This really rare Cadillac CTS V Sport showed up at the Dealer Trade In Auction… It was rough around the edges and came with a check engine light and is about half the price of the next cheapest one for sale right now! But it was cheap for a reason…

  1. Just wanted to say, full respect to you sam, I’ve been watching since 2020. Coming from England copart is a little different as I don’t need a breakers license for structural damaged car. Watching your videos inspires me to do what I’ve always wanted to do but taking the first step is always the hardest. A lot of the stuff you show is very daunting but coming from an engineering background I know once’s you’ve been there and done it a couple of times it’s a lot easier. Just wanted to show some appreciation, keep it up!

  2. Just bought a 2016 ats from a buy here pay here , 2 weeks later the transmission started making noise 😞 when occasionally when I’m on the high way the car will like kinda die on me I have to put it in Manuel and put it in 8th gear so it could get back in gear can anyone help ?

  3. What causes metal to STretch? Heat. What brung the Heat. Dirty Oil and Dirty Coolant. You can pay for it as you go or you can pay for it with early engine failure. One also wonders why GM doesn't JUST make a bigger oil pan and coolant overflow system. I smell them chasing EPA Mileage fantasies again.

  4. My 2015 Camaro with the 3.6l is still running like new at 150k miles. I do believe its the oil, the engine seems to burn oil and early oil changes prevent being low enough to cause damage. There was a time when I ran past my usual oil change and a cold morning that I just drove off, I received a message saying low oil and to pull over to prevent damage. I pulled over and, let the oil warm up a bit and good to go. Did my oil change and everything was fine, never had a issue apart from the warning that day, kept running strong.

  5. Hey Sam these new cars have 2 chains, several chain sliders that are made out of plastin ,chains are not that thick as they used to be and yes 100k is too a lot for a timig chain, bmw usualy recomends changing it around 70/90k so it is a ware item anyway

  6. Why GM replied the legendary 3.8 V6, one of the best engines ever built with the 3.6 is beyond me, it's nowhere near as good a motor. The 3.8 can last 400,000 miles if taken care of, not this lump. Timing chains should last just about forever, not 100,000.

  7. That's basically neglect I just did the timing chains and tensioners in my Cadillac SRX and it wasn't that bad Azure motor but it was still bad I was told that you should change oil every 3,000 to 5,000 MI also check the ventilation system I just put a catch can on mine it's a very easy job to do nothing hard at all just take your time and make sure you get everything lined up on the timing spots also make sure you clean the passages out the best you can to the tensioners you'll also want to put a new oil pump in a new water pump well you have it all tore apart and it's also easier to replace the thermostat with it apart don't reuse any gaskets get new ones should be an easy job for you to do

  8. Whats wrong with cadillac honestly? We went from having a great engine from GM imagine this car with the older style 3.8 liter supercharged engine found in most late 90s cars. I have a anniversary edition grand prix gpt performance that has the 3.8 and i really love the car and have never had a single engine related issue with it. Just a cracked radiator from it being plastic and the constant hot and cold cycle. Less then 200 bucks to fix and easily done. Then cadillac started putting a 3.0 v6 in cars like the catera. The first version was in 97 and i owned one. It had recalls because the timing chains would snap and the engine would nuke within the first 25k usually. They never fixed it either. Because the 2001 i had as well was known for rhe same problem. They also had a ton of transmission issues. And dont get me started on the Northstar v8 engines…. they were such a bitch…

Now i have a cts and sts V with the v8 and manual transmissions. They are both terrific cars and ive had no issues. I also have a 2006 sts base with the regular 3.6 and yeah it had the timing issues as well as a ton of electrical gremlins as well..

Why does it always seem like nobody can sort out the timing problems. Be it American german chinese japanese it doesnt matter so many cars have timijg chain issues.

One thing about the 3.6 on the cts and sts with the automatic transmission is that they are literally impossible to service. You cant even check the fluid levels and when you have a leak somewhere in the line's well good luck when you need to refill it unless you drop the transmission.

Frustrating as can be isnt it? This is why generally speaking im a VW Audi Benz guy. You just grt more quality usually from the parts even though working on them sucks.

If you wanna feel better about life. Go look at what it takes to change the starter on a new rolls cullinan
