ive had this 2000 Terramite T5C Compact Tractor Loader Backhoe for about 19 years, and has served me well until today, the engine has let the parts inside go where they want, and that’s not good, let’s scrounge around some junk engines and see if we can fix it up.

Are you Joe of 2vintages father by ant chance?
may want to give the old gal some paint
You always laugh why is that
Kohler's are common for bent pushrods that can gall into crankcase due to valve deposits saw a lot of these where I used to work got with Kohler engineer's they had us use non ethanol fuel that helped but in the end did away with all of them had a lot of failures haven't looked at Kohler the same since then
Works great now …. Can I borrow it 😂😂😂
Hi Darren , boy you have all the toys in your shop to make jobs so easy ! I envy your shop â¤
there are plenty of videos here on you tube you could watch to get an idea of what you are trying to do here you seem to have the tools just need some direction. /
Fnnd another engine!!??!?.
Watching!!!
Sounds great I so glad you fixed thar handy termite machine
The engine bend push rods has been overheated and the valve guides got tight in valve stems and slide the guides out. That creates a clearance issue. Valves aren’t closing now creating the no compression problem. Choices are to replace the head, or press guides back in. They may or may not hold. They should if the motor is kept cool. I would venture to guess the fins are clogged full of oil and debris.
I have the same T5C Terramite with the same Kohler 20hp engine. The Kohler has done its job well for 15+ years but need to be replaced. I will use your steps in your video to make my machine awesome again! Thank you!
Thanks for the education!
Wear a head mike so we can hear you better.
did you tighten the screws on the U-joint?
Tome to make a trip to the scrapper.
i could hear the rods knocking in buffalo ny on that machine when you. We're pulling the bug buss apart lol
Nice
That looks like a cub cadet drive shaft laying there on pallet.
That's what in mower have here 20hp Kohler command. Locked up.
Try get it going for pops this spring.
Lol best one is on the backhoe and its toast. Priceless.
The struggle is real 😆ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘
“I’m outa nutsâ€â€¦lol
Another great video.
Happy ending … love it!!
Wouldn't be a Mustie video without the signature antics at the end! 😆😆😆
.
And no, I didn't think you'd flip it! I know better! 😃😃😃
Curious what was the original shaft size i looking to swap my motor on the same unit
I'm always entertained watching someone who knows what they're doing.
One comment on a lot of your videos is, why not use anti-seize on large couplings such as for the Terri-mite! I use it on every bolt that I find hard to remove in the first place. I love your videos and the way that you talk as though we are right along side of you!
Why not take the adapter off the flywheel instead of taking the shaft apart?
Always pays to have a good hoard, just ask Harvey Spooner
Loved the scissor lift table that you repair your engines and ride on tractors on. Who is the manufacturer? Where can I get one?
that machine is simple but awesome, i want one.
Nice tilt trailer
What a goof!!! You gotta love this guy I swear!🤪
When fitting pushrods you need to drain out the hydraulic followers first, or as you saw the springs coil bind and bend the rods again.
If u put new buffer into exhost it will run quiter
You know, it’s all fun when you remit out like that but once it sucks the valve in from over, revving it, then it’s no fun no more
What are you can do when you’re doing that is too have the valve cover off and crank the engine over with a spark plug in it after putting some sort of liquid inside the cylinder and look down between where the pushrods go and you should be able to see the liquid running through into the pushrod valley that will tell you that the head gasket is the problem
And if you ever get bad lifters on those Kohler engines you can use a small block Chevy lifter from a 305 or 350 flat tappet they are the same
One thing I’ve learned with Kohler engines when they start smoking it’s typically a head gasket because they are made from a Teflon material and then we usually blow between the pushrod valley and the Piston
That’s actually pretty cool it through a rod
Seeing you pulling a wheely on a freshly recovered vehicle,…. makes me smile!!
Thanks again for another awesome video I learn a lot every time I watch ya….
That landscaper needs to reform his maintenance program badly….. no oil in his motors.. no wonder he has failures. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The look at the end was the best! 😂
I love working with musky on my Saturday mornings we always get something done
Love watching people make things work
Good video. Could have used that putting in my waterline. Just hard headed I guess. Did it all with a mattock. Maybe next time
Cool little piece of equipment
im at 20:52 i think your valve guides are pulling out
