It has been a couple months since I made the first Why I stopped using Windows 10 video and I wanted to do an 2019 update on this. I have been on Linux for the past couple months and boot up Windows 10 everyone once in a while and have compiled 8 more reasons why I don’t like it. Windows 10 declining in market share due to these issues.

**Most things works with tinkering, but some information is not well layed out.
**So much more stable and not as “update happy”
Conclusion
Don’t be tied to one operating system and learn about your options. This can be Mac OSX, FreeBSD, or Linux, but don’t just settle for Windows.

I've never had Candy crush suggested to me on Windows 10. I debloated my laptop as much as possible.
Doesn't the fact that Linux is OPEN software, where all the code is exposed for anyone to use, make it a SECURITY RISK by definition?
Will antivirus software like,Kaspersky, work on Linux?
I am glad I am in the process of ditching Windows. Im amazed at the sheer amount of at least decent music production software on Linux, music apps actually running well in Wine, Proton, sayonara MS. Thank you MS for motivating me to learn the Linux command line 😊
I've never had the problems you described on windows 10. Yeah I hate it, but it works just fine.
And here we are, roughly four years in since you'd posted this and every point you've made is even more applicable now if not more so. M$ has shown that their more concerned with the "user being the product" by serving us up the "malware " that windows 11 really is, justified by the fact that W11 functions as if it's nothing more than a "shell or wrapper" around W10 but with refinements in it's telemetry and data collection abilities.
I genuinely believe that those who don't give a shit about privacy is straight up idiots.. they're probably those who believe everything CNN tells them.
Things like this are why I want so badly to commit to Linux fully. The problem is, as an artist, so much of my workflow relies on Windows exclusive software. And art is one area where Linux doesn't really have comparable alternatives. (Yes, I'm aware of GIMP. No it's not a replacement for CSP in any way.)
I'm much more willing to put up with Linux's quirks than Microsoft's complete violation of my privacy. But until Linux compatibility gets better, I'm unfortunately stuck with them.
Suggested apps now be like "You installed Windows, would you like to download candy crush?"
Hey, I came from the future. In 2021, Microsoft launch Windows 11, and we don't own our OS we purchased
Microsoft is not a company anymore, it's not a corporation either, it's a government, just like Apple, and what do government like above all? Controlling you.
does the debloater you talk about in another video removes telemetry?
It would be great if Microsoft tried more to replicate the Windows 7 experience rather than getting further away from it!
agreed, Microsoft is evil, similarily to other Big Tech companies
Im keeping backups of my surface tablet and my old Toshiba laptops original software (8 and 7) but im trying out linux and bsd on them both and 2 old towers if been given using mostly old parts.. and 12 distros and headaches later… Yea im probably gonna daily driver either Garuda with blackarch, Parrot, or Kali… didnt try fedora either actually. but normie wise mint, manjaro, and garuda are probably the best choices for normie multimedia and gamer usage. Couldnt get popos to work and almost didnt get past the first attempt, debian and raspi os wouldnt work on usb dvd only or something.. But mint and manjaro were so easy and worked first try and now im trying to learn command line just because. But start with one of those 3 if youre command line illiterate n go from there. Oh and nomadbsd also is one im Messin with, not bad either. Tails of course is another honorable mention. Couldnt get qubes or whonix to work for tests yet either… But im not practiced with virtual machines. Really i wanted to start with debian and raspian for my engineering hobby but didnt work out that way on my other stuff.
I know this is an old video, but just recently switched a non-techy friend from windows to Linux Mint XFCE after their hard drive failed. They had a problem with a hacker, once, who hijacked their system through a game they were playing, and it was installed through the store. She was impressed by how much better her system ran compared to Windows 10, or even how it ran on Windows 7
You know how they say: In Linux you are able to configure literally everything. And YOU WILL CONFIGURE LITERALLY EVERYTHING, bitch!
Something that I really hated about windows: '' in paths
Who do you think would be the king of operating systems if Windows were to collapse?
.The most nasty part of Windows is the up dates, messing with the other software we have in our computers, recently after the last up date, Power Director 13 stopped detecting my mic, and an Audio Production Software I have, stopped working properly too, and now I am still trying to solve this mayor issues and I had dead lines on different projects I was working on, I hate Windows, but unfortunately all software I love is just for Windows, but I am starting my search to find alternatives in Linux to migrate to it 😒
the thing that made me start using linux was that microsoft made every system older than 3 years unable to update to windows 11.
Im happy with Windows dying. I been using Linux as a main OS since the 90s along with Mac.
Running windows in VM with 1GiB of RAM:
Windows XP: lightning fast
Windows 7: still fast, just a little slower
Windows 8: Not very good, pushing it to its limits
Windows 10 x86: slow crap and pushing it beyond its limits.
Also i can still do other things while running windows XP and 7, but when running 10, the CPU and RAM is maxed out 100% times, loading even explorer takes eternity.
I'm sick of Windows 8/10's unstable explorer. It works, but when i want to open ClassicShell menu on it 95% has to freeze before opening, in worse cases it just crashes.
Also just displaying context menus sometimes takes eternity to load.
Explorer was slow sh*t in Windows 8 and it stayed sh*t in Windows 10 🙁
Amazing mint is best for beginners…I mean…do u know how lite it is?
I.e. we need Microsoft to show what not to do.
The other reason I suspect computer scientists allow Microsoft to exist is a standard to rebel against kinda 😂 thing.
It's an imminent front. It's a put on. To quote the who.
How did that come about? Microsoft came to b in that unique historical moment when home computers weren't connected. P.s.: I suspect Microsoft pays hackers to write viruses that u need antivirus software to handle.
My take: Microsoft is a criminal organization that computer scientists allow to exist because they often really really r libertarian.
U might be slightly interested to know as a rare case that never got "addicted" to windows, even though every time I buy a machine with windows 10 installed, I try to give it a chance, I end up where I can't wait to replace it with Linux less than a half hour later.
I stop using window because, 1. I dont want to deal with window license anymore and 2. window 10 sucks… window 10 really over complicated alot of things… back in window 7, changing ip is rather simple, just open network and sharing and you can change your ip there… but in window 10, you open network and sharing, than ethernet and than look for the tiny link that say change adapter settings… bloody hell microsoft…
not to mention, why there is ad in my window 10 pro? installing window 10 is pain in the butt since you'll need to find all the notification and marketing stuff and turn it off.. I really wish my boss would allow me to install linux on all the company PC… but no, the sales people need microsoft office and the finance people need excel, he said…
OMG, Cortana can't be deleted at work…so I'm glad I have Linux, 🙂
I wish I could have Brave on Linux, but sadly, they're not built for Linux so I've heard
2:40
the percentage of people that use iOS as their desktop os be like:
my goals are beyond your understanding
This very April I celebrate 8 years Windows free.
I just think there is no need to Stop using Windows if you become a Linux User,
Windows is very useful too, just like Mac or any other OS.
they should build in Chocolatey…
Well that didn’t last long, did it?
Hi Chris, Can i wipe windows completely and using only Ubuntu on Asus Laptop (HDD drive) without loosing my personal data?
Ever since I've updated my PC to 20H2, I've been facing a lot of issues with it! After using Tronscript (Thanks to Chris), my computer was fixed, but it was still a mess!
The issue is, that if you don't activate your Windows version, it practically becomes useless! another thing I've found is the MOST ANNOYING Group policy, which says "your settings have been managed by your organization", which doesn't allow you to change some settings! It's like someone controlling your PC!
I really hate it when Cortana says not found in my region!!!
I agree with everything, exept "package managment" part. Sorry, but Linshit have horrible pckage managment and it is one of it downside. On oposite side, Mac and Windows have much, much better "package managment". Sorry but im free man, and I don't want that some motherfucker called "distribution maintainer" decide for me, wchich version of Firefox I can use on wchich version of OS. I want to go to some website and install whatever i want, not what distribution repositoriec allow to me. I got some virus? Ok. my foult and my problem. Gluing base OS and user aplications is the worst thing in IT history and main reason why desktop linux sucks so much.
When "User Friendliness" means users should be friendly at all times, STFU, never complain, and be fankids about having bought from the biggest monopolist – too big to sue – on earth.
All vulnerabilities that got "accidentally discovered or uncovered" have been created by developers and programmers in the first place – without preventive quality monitoring from a security point of view, in order to "extend" as part of the "embrace, extend, kill" strategy. And the vulnerabilities never got uncovered by testers before code went to users? Is that why the testers have been fired?
Windows search should really be on this list. I'm noticing how still not a lot of people seem to care about windows having such a weak and outdated filesystem. I daily drive windows but it makes me crazy every time. I stopped using windows search alltogether. Mac os for instance has nailed this and my almost 10 year old macbook pro wins every time against my 6 months old windows build when searching a darn simple file. Just the fact that there are free programs out there like 'Everything' (my personal favorite) beating windows search by miles, makes you ask the question, how does it still suck sooooo hard in windows? ….
A large part of the world probably can't afford windows, and there are a huge number of older computers being used around the world. I suspect this will drive Linux growth.
Just try to setup a win7 with a win10 pc. In a network, one day it works, the next day it doesn't. And vice versa lol.
There is no package Management at all imO!!!! Every f..g single App i manualy must search properly Update for! WTF??!!!!!! The Most time at the mashine i almost spend in Those f..g updates!! And wenn you'r ready with all that garbage than comes a new cumulative Update for the system…🤣🤣 Thanks a Lott dear Windows. Im finaly on idea to change for Linux!!!
The huge problem for me alltghough is using the win-apps on runing Linux (?!) I businessweise have to work with some of those. The problem is essentually existent for me!!!! Even with 'wine' theres no warranty about functionality of the apps…Zuck…
