Come along as I “show” you another way to “look” for a blown head gasket. This time I am using and endoscope. To be specific I used this one – DEPSTECH Dual Lens Inspection Camera – https://amzn.to/3RQ8nwo They are worth every penny in my opinion.
-Enjoy!

Here is the scope I used : DEPSTECH Dual Lens Inspection Camera – https://amzn.to/3RQ8nwo
Does the car need to be to operational temperature to pressurize the cooling system? Or can it be cold? Just curious because if cold wouldn't the thermostat be closed and not let any coolant into the engine?
I am sure this is a nice camera, but I prefer articulating cameras. This is the one I bought. It is $80 right now on Amazon, not $140, and it also has 1080p. The articulation is nice, so I can bend my camera straight up if needed.
And don't worry the other option is $1000-3000 or more just for a head gasket if mechanics wants to proceed
Rislone head gasket sealer fix the problem too fast too easy, just put it in the coolant when misfire sintoms starts to show up and way before cold weather shows up.
Kind of cool, absolutely amazing, love that 90 degree camera. Diagnostic process is the most important thing a mechanic can do, cars can't talk like humans….
My thoughts are about me wondering why I've been a masochist for so long with trying to keep on using that stupid Snap-on endoscope… No matter how much I try to clean the stupid thing I still can barely tell what I'm looking at!
Hi there, I have a 08 Honda PIlot. Misifres on cylinder 3,5&6 . It only does it on idle. Even at 1k rpm if you keep it, it won't misfire. Only on idle it does that. I just had the valves adjusted. Compression test and leak down came out fine. What could it be ?
awesome skills and very professional troubleshooting. Treating your customers right shows your integrity and business sense. Great job!
What do you think was the underlying CAUSE of the head gasket failure on this car?
ðŸ‘👊 Great demonstration!👊ðŸ‘
Bought one of those Borescopes about 3 months ago, will use it now that I see what it can do.
Thanks for the tip on the borescope. It's a whole lot better than the crappy one I bought a few years ago.
That was very cool to watch. Thanks for the lesson, it is appreciated greatly.
Just FYI, they used your YouTube video as a description😅in that Amazon link you gave
These are great for looking behind walls as well to see where pipes and wires are.
Hey, did you know "Depstech" is using your video to promote its product? Just wanted to let you know this video is up on their page.
That's awesome.
Wait!!!! Isn't this the day those 2 annoying youtubers came by and interrupted your work? AND your lunch? Darn them!!! Thanks again for the hospitality. We both really love your channel. The info is great. The repairs are great. The tips and tricks are great. BUT THE BEST PART IS THE UNDERLYING SUB-PLOT OF THE INCREDIBLE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN YOU AND MRS O. Thank you for being you, both if you.
nice. will definitely buy that scope and that coolant pressure thingy!
Very concise instruction how to use an inexpensive bore scope to find blown headgasket.
🔧🪛🔨Pretty darn cool Eric!!! Great tip and easy to diagnose. Thanks so much!!!
Clean piston with the boro.
Lol. Words mean things.
Seeing is believing! A picture or video is worth 1000 words.
Nice and interesting
Me thinks replacing the coolant every 50k miles may help to avoid these head gasket problems. (No matter what the manufacturer's tell ya) 😉
I also would like to see you do this job as l own the exact car. I did a temporary fix 10 k ago but expect the problem to reappear. 3rd mechanic finally did a correct diagnostic but as it's already got really high mileage the cost of a their new gasket was more than the car was worth..
Holy cow. Scotty will have a stroke if he knew a Toyota had a head gasket failure!
