I purchased this john deere lx178 at a yard sale 2 weeks ago for $320. it came with a snow blower and some problems. so lets find out what is wrong with it and how to fix them,

  1. Long past my days wrenching for Kawasaki. Also real late to this party. But for future watchers… Once into the carburetor the needle is an early version the spring can go weak and the taper will get worn (long past the motor being rebuild)
    The later seat has Teflon or something flexible will seal faster but will develop groove that will affect fuel trim. I always wondered if you could use alternate parts B+S or Walboro.

  2. According to the owner’s manual, the engine is supposed to be warmed up for 3-4 minutes and at idle the engines will surge some due to emissions regulations at the time

  3. What make tractor would recommend, as new business landscaping. I'm pretty handy , just don't want to buy , and then hear , that's worst tractor to buy …thanks in advance

  4. Everyone should pressure wash before repair, it let’s you see broken bent missing parts easier. Also it makes working on it easer. and safer without having greasy, oily hands and tools. Great job.
