Is that color sea sand or fontana grey?
That car is an amazing upgrade from the Super Beetle! I hope the Beetle “Gods†are as good to me one day. Thanks for the video!
Curse and throw tools is how I do it. 😉
Hi must say this is an old video but looking through some of your older stuff, its great. My best mate had an beetle when we were kids. It had big wheels/tyres and handled well. But i also remember the wipers run of the spare tyre air pressure. How old would that have been?
Make faces workin on stuff? Yep – scares the critters away.

fun fun loved your episode looks like the thermostat valves are missing might improve driveability
I know this video is old, but just as a heads up, bleach and water only introduce more water to the mold which is why it's there in the first place. A better option would be a mix of Borax and vinegar to kill the mold.
I did that when I worked on cars.
You did all that because you are a great person.
What an interesting title haha
Mustie my 1972's Super Beetle needs a lot of time to start the engine from the key. Battery is new and it runs fine afterwards. I've got a Pertronix ignitor. Maybe timing advance?. Any recommendation?
Just need antifreeze a little humor
Anybody else hit the like button before watching the videos? You just know they are gonna be a good watch…
…too bad there aren't stainless steel VW mufflers and heater boxes-!!
Great video. It’s been many years since I worked to solve the many headaches presented by my 1967 Bug. It was my 3rd vehicle and I enjoyed it. While I don’t miss the headaches, I do miss the smells. If you’ve owned an older Bug you know what I mean. They have a distinct odor about them.
Slit pieces of rubber hose and put it over those door rods. You're a good VW Mechanic.
First time I did that with dads glove box sprayed it down with bleach you could actually see the mold spores lise as it got wet and my mix was mor 10percent bleach
I am crying lock this video, because, i i want this car from year to year, i don t money. My low sallery as sosiology teacher in Semarang, Indonesia
About the whipers… one speed is enough. I've driven manny Citroën 2CV's in my life and they had just one speed. Take it or leave it. That's how it was.
This was my first car exactly except mine had high back seats. Wiper motor failed somewhere in S. Bend Indiana in a lake affect snow storm 1974. Oh the good times.
What year bug is the ideal year to buy of the old school bugs
Clutch cable should have 2 nuts locked together on these early models.

Although I never owned a VW, I NEVER adjusted the emergency brake on my cars, for the very same reasons you stated here…

hello from Portland , Or found me a 1967 Bug floor looks good doors are a bit pitted at the bottom hoping I can snag and start having fun working all the kinks out.
The gas pedal is a wheel?
Yes, I make faces when I work on stuff. Don't stick my tongue out, though. Lots of people do that.
my dream car.
Thanks for your explanations as you are going along with your repairs. It really helps out. ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
Beauty. I am in the market for one myself.
Better than HBO .. thanks for interesting work
Hey Mustie1 I have the chance to buy a 72 beetle, looks like someone's already been restoring it, but I have zero car knowledge, you think it would be a good car to learn on? And, it does start, I threw a battery on it and it cranked right up after sitting for years, where should I start?
For a 1966 bug, daily driver, looks awesome, regarding the 67 or 68, I think the original muffler with the double, pipes instead of that single one sounds better, plus it*s not so low as the aftermarket exhaust it has, it looks good, but when it sits kinda low that is what worries me, especially if you have a single aftermarket muffler, if you hit a crater in the road (hole), it could actually rip of the single piece, or if you hit something that can reach that part of the muffler, it would be quite a task to fix.
Love the videos of old VW's. I had a '70 that I bought in 85 for $1100 and kept three years. I put about $1k into it when I got it. Headers, heater boxes, tie rod ends, brakes, tires and a few misc things. That thing was a blast to drive around town. In the end I got tired of fixing it, and not having a decent heater and AC. Sold it and got a Mazda pickup. But I do miss the simplicity of the bug!
I guess I'm addicted. Makes me miss my '73. Naaa. Gotta have a/c @ 63 years in Louisiana.
