Now that we figured out in the first video https://youtu.be/vC-IpKkI4K4 why this Jeep Compass would not run it is time to come up with a solution to the problem. Let’s see what we can do to fix it and get it back on the road. -Enjoy!

This is a very very good video!! Awesome job!!!
Would an issue with the relay box cause a no crank issue? I have a 2010 compass and all of a sudden nothing happens when I try to start other that the lights on the dash all go out. I have do have 12v at the cig lighter and only drops to 11.9 with the headlights on, so battery should be good. A boost from another running vehicle doesn't make a differece. I replace the starter 3 yrs ago so that shouldn't be the problem. bad winter here now, so no easy to work on it outside. Is there a starter relay that feeds to the starter solinoid? If so, do you know where it is located?
What spray for the contacts? Lanolin brand , which one? Thank you, nice repair.
Thanks for the video. Lead me right to the same problem. Save me a.lot of head acke. I hate modern electrical on cars.
I have a 2018 jeep cherokee latitude it cracks but no start ? I checked all the fuse all the relays. The fuel pump, you can hear It turn on the spark plugs and the coils have spark. The only thing I need to check is the intelligent battery fuse. What do you think.
Great detailed video. Just what I needed to know. Thank you!
What is the spray he was spraying on the wire conectors ?
How did he get heat shrink on after soldering ? on the red wire…
Same problem in my 2014
😮
Awesome Video
You did great job
Hey Brother, how much would you or did you charge for this, no crank no start starting to happen to my 2015 compass. Don't want to attempt the fix myself.
Outstanding instructor
Very helpful
Thank you for this video. I fix it
Curious why the 5th wire is not needed. Is there no 5th pin in that slot even though it’s a 5 pin relay in the box?
It angers me that Chrysler does not specify who makes the connectors with part numbers etc. I suppose they want to sell expensive parts that really aren't needed. That sucks Chrysler!
Solder connections are extremely reliable. Not always the most convenient though. 🖖ðŸ»ðŸ€ðŸŒ»
if that didnt work what do i do ?
Good job. Saved your customer a bundle.
Wow. This worked. I just did it on my jeep. LIFESAVER!
Very Informative. Thanks!
I have the same issue on my 2015 Jeep compass which I'm thinking is likely the same contributing factor "BUT" 1 strange thing I noticed is that when I turn the key over to crank the engine the key does not spring back to the home indent position the key stays in the start position and the vehicle continues to crank but does not start. do you think it may be the same issue or could it be something different.
Thank you. I have been going through a rough patch feeling pretty useless. My wifes jeep stopped starting and we most definitely don't have the funds to pour into our cars you recklessly gave me the tools to tackle this on my own. My wife and kids look at me differently now. Please keep teaching and inspiring. IF I CAN DO IT. YOU CAN DO IT. that made all the difference. Thank you
Who designed this box last minute and Stuck it in there behind the wheel!?
I have the same exact problem on my Jeep. I need to jumper mine to move it and one thing you didn’t show was how you jumped it? What pins did you stick the wire in? Please help as I can’t figure it out and my battery is about dead too. Thank
Thanks for the help
This video saved me on a diag today! Great stuff. For what it's worth, AllData completely ignores this box on a 2016 Jeep Compass. Absolutely ZERO information on it's existence or location. All they give you is a connector view, but with no location or any other info, you're led to believe it's integrated into the TIPM. Even under removal/replacement or parts/labor it just takes you to TIPM.
My fault ended up being the ASD relay output, load side. Thanks Eric!
Thank you
Your my buddy don't have many friends you are a blessing to many
I need some help
This was very impressive how you narrowed down this electrical issue. Plus knowing that there was a repair harness rather than replacing an OEM factory harness saved hundreds of dollars. Having the wiring diagram is a must for issues like this.
Tyvm for the video. I'm up and running again works great
I rewired the entire relay box w new wires. Also moved the box to where the TIPM is so its accessible. Don't want this problem anymore.
its insane chrysler puts the dammed relay box inside the wheel well, thats a fucking stupid place for it no wonder it rots out
Instead of mounting it back where its suppose to go maybe try zip tieing the whole thing up some place higher up where it will get less soaked and of course a good slathering of dielectric grease wont hurt
Hi Eric, My wife's 2015 Compass just had this problem the other day. I watched your video and it was extremely helpful in locating and fixing the problem. Instead of getting a relay I fixed the one that was it it by cleaning out all the green crustys and drilling out the terminal in the box that had turned to solid green concrete. I soldered a wire to the remaining good part of the leg of the relay and ran it through this hole and soldered to the wire in the harness. Easy fix in the end but your example made it a cinch. Thankyou so much! Your a great guy for sharing yor knowledge and encouraging us DIYers to even attempt it. BTW I also checked my 2008 Compass and it had 3 bad relays which were fixed the same way X3. I pulled up the harness and relocated the box into the engine compartment where it should have been from the factory.
breaker bar, Josh, with a 1/2 flip socket… i use them all the time…. i don't break lug nuts with my impact. i use a breaker bar and then zip my lug nuts off and then back on and still am able to use a torque wrench to properly torque my lug nuts, to 100ft lbs., on all lug nuts, even the shit ones that only require 75 or 80ft lbs…
Great video. Unfortunately we don’t have a Napa in town just AutoZone and Oreilly. Not sure what part numbers I would look for
What relay needed?
I'm working on a jeep patriot this weekend, same problem… I came back to this video for reference on these little "jewels"
Super pomocny film pozdrawiam z Polski od niedawna posiadacz samochodu Jeep Compas
2010 Patriot 2.4. Same issue. Top right relay small upper right pin corroded off. The 10 and 40 fuses had power with key off same as part 1 video. Wired a new low fan relay outside of the box also. Still no start.
ALL of the small pin wires on EVERY relay have power with key off. All but one of the "fat" (number 3 or 5?) pins, the 30 amp one, have power. The fat 30 amp pin that does NOT have power with key off or forward is the top left relay which is another fan relay. The wire is blue with a green stripe. Not sure where it goes. Can that one wire cause the no start issue?
BTW, fuel pump primes and getting fuel at the injectors.
Super frustrating. Sometimes when I try to crank and the key goes back to the forward position it still keeps cranking. Weird.
Great video very helpful thanks
Okay Great video 👠where is part 3 🤔
You're one of the best and most honest mechanics out there…but stop using the mini torch on heat shrink for so damn long. You're getting the wire way too hot and burning it, those heat shrink tubes don't need that much heat. Even the crimp n seal connectors don't need a massive amount of heat. Once the connector or shrink makes contact over the wire, it's good. Getting the wire too hot will compromise it and can cause issues.
Great job! You saved yourself a lot of work (replacing the wiring harness, etc). Its much easier to fix the relay box and the wires. What liquid did you spray on the wire connections? Lanolin??
Did that fix it?
I have watched and learned alot from your compass videos. Wish you were a little further upstate so i could have you work on our 16 compass.
