Put pry bar in and pop it right out
Rain man , just a FYI you don’t have to break apart the right side to get the axel out it will come out the bottom, knock it off the diff side and it will come out.
[28:09] …pickle fork?! That what I did on my 2008 AWD Escape…
Although it was quite a wrestling match…
Thank you for this. That’s exactly what’s happening tomorrow. Gonna go purchase an air hammer. On Monday because Harbor freight is doing the 20% off $20 or less.
I have that impact very powerful great gun
No surprise it's broken. Probably plenty of other things are broken or have already broken and been repaired or will break pretty soon. I see that he averages 11.2 mi per gallon it's funny that I averaged 20 miles per gallon in mine that means he pretty much drives it everyday like he stole it. And people wonder why things break
I have a go pro video of under our ram with one of these that's really bad.
Hi from Greece! I am positive impressed about your work! Congratulations! Just a question: Are the damaged shafts mainly on the driver side or the passenger side? Or is it 50/50?
WOW, a 2 year old video popped up in my recommended, there's Ray, still killing it
There is a easier way to pull a stuck axle weld a short piece of chain to the hub and put a slide hammer on it it will come right out beat on one for a day and someone told me to do that and it worked fast and easy
you are detailed like me if i lived near you i would take my cars to you
The mileage, vibration, etc made perfect sense ,I'm at 211,000 miles and it all had to bed replaced, bushings and CV axles, with new balance tires, and Dodge Ram ♈ is running like a 🆠champ, thanks for the video, but yea having shop saves a lot of time and money 🤑💰
The next guy who has to pull that drive shaft out thanks you for putting the grease in there. I had a hell of a time with a ford ranger that someone didn't put grease in it. I destroyed the drive shaft getting it off. Heating, beating, cussing, and throwing tools, but it did finally give up.
Blue lock tight those u joint bolt's
today on my five year old RAM I remove the CV joint, and I had the same problem, but I went a different way, I took a high temperature hair dryer and some wax, when you heat the joint and add wax to it, it breaks down all the rust and I took out my CV joint with two blows of a hammer, inside there was rust of about the same level as in the video.
he ain't no mechanic he's a surgeon
KEEP IT STOCK!
Stretching out a used clamp then re-clamping it will work in the short term. But going through that process creates metal fatigue in the key areas of the clamp that experience the most sever stress. Really how hard is it to install a new set of clamps?
I once broke both front U joint yokes, yes the yokes not the joints, on a 3/4 ton Chevy truck. Mechanic said he had been wrenching for over 40 years and had never seen it happen
That truck is nice for a 2012 must be southern 😂
I only watched you cut the CV off, but you went through all that trouble and didn't remove/replace the intermediate shaft/bearings? It's 4 more bolts and a couple clips with the shaft kit being $100, especially with all the direct radial forces you applied with an air hammer.
Any body know what type of grease he was using ?
Upper control arm ball joint nut : 40 Ft-lbs + Additional 200 degrees
Wheel hub nut : 185 Ft-lbs
Wheel hub bearing holding bolts : 134 Ft-lbs
Brake caliper mount bolts : 130 Ft-lbs CLICK
use vinegar
tighten them first
need to drill and tap them so you can grease
I think I would have used heat before cutting…
I know that pain with that cv axle first hand, just like you I beat it sprayed and prayed, but ended up having to cut it off. Fun times!
recently replaced the front pass axle on my '13 ram. outer boot slingin grease & got an axle assy for not much more than a boot kit. used heat& air hammer to remove
