I have a 1949 picture of my Mother (who passed away in 1959) at the farm across the road from ours. It shows her trying to catch one of their piglets who had escaped from the pen. My mom is sort of in mid-air, executing what the farmer's wife called a flying tackle. It was successful, although she was was covered in mud for the effort! I haven't thought of it for years–but that's what your videos give to this elderly ex-farmhand. You push my nostalgia button every time! Thanks to you and yours, Jeff
Man patty is such a cow 😆
You really seem to be a nice man. 😊⤠I really enjoy the time you spend with us so cool.â¤â¤
How did you like Canada?
ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»
Please update us on bossy pig and her breeding! She is my favorite!
Why dont you cut the horns of the female cows?
Did bossy pig ever get pregnant?
Pete, do you ever deworm the pigs? If you do, how often and what do you use? Feeders as well as the breading stock?
O.K., I guessed I missed it. What happened to Oreo. You know, the little pig that was supposed to keep Billy company?
Did bossy PIg ever become pregnant ?
Hi I am from India 🇮🇳
Pls tell me how much piglet can we get from a mother pig ( minimum or least of all) ?
Where did you buy your cattle from? Obviously now you breed them but when you didn’t have any, where did you go to find good quality cattle? I am looking to start my own farm and have no farm experience
I wish my only job in life was to eat 24/7 only…..I don’t want to get fat! I’m from Louisiana and we moved to suburban Atlanta GA which is still the south. The area where we were was a melting pot bc of the Delta airline pilots. But when I was in a crowd of people talking I was the one who stood out like a sore thumb bc of my “accent†they called it. It was a southern drawl without a doubt. People liked to hear me talk and I hated it! They also thought we had alligators in our back yard. Not in the northern part of the state. There was no restaurants that served a “po boy!†That saddened me! I could have made them and gotten rich! Lots of places back home sure did. If you like a roast beef, fried shrimp and catfish, chicken etc. sandwich served on a special French bread bun dressed with your fav condiments served with mostly chicken gravy and homemade French fries then you would love a “po boy!†Also gumbo and jambalaya. My neighbors loved me bc of my cooking. I happened to love one of my neighbors bc of his grilling expertise. We made a good pair and shared often. It was a fun time but bc of my husbands job we had to move AGAIN! This time it was back home and we were so happy. We did make some good friends that we still stay in touch with. I’m thankful for the experience. Now I don’t remember why I started this comment. Anyway, I love your channel. It’s kinda like an experience for me. I love your way of life probably bc I had so much fun as a child at my great grandparents farm. They were what you call fully sustainable. Cows, chickens, pigs, garden….the whole nine yards. We would help with the shelling of peas and beans and shucking the corn. We didn’t even know it was work! I did get my legs switched for chasing the chickens. Grandma said they wouldn’t lay if we upset them. I learned a valuable lesson. I was washing my feet and hands at the faucet and grandma slipped up behind me with that switch! Lol I just remember I couldn’t wait until the next time to visit them. They were hard working people.
Always wanted to be a farm girl but alas was in the city-So Calif. Finally in my retirement made my escape to E. TN. have a small garden and I'm canning food, mostly proteins. Would love to have chickens but probably isn't practical for me. I love watching your videos. If I wasn't looking I would think I was listening to Jay Leno-almost.
When bossy pig having her piglets
Agree re: round bales! They're great. Collect old (free) pallets for outdoor storage. Appreciate the way(s) you make every blade of grass "count." Thanks for filming and for your imaginative video'ing efforts. For example when camera was on the ground and your tractor tire (on one side) and manure spreader tire (on the other) narrowly "missed" mashin' your camera.
Yes, there's lots of energy in Montreal. People drive very fast on the freeways. It's like the speed limit signs say "Floor it".
New Subscriber here . A lad- friend recommended your channel. Lots of fun.
I am making my way through your book. I read a chapter each night before bed. Loving it. My daughter and I have been gardening in my back yard for the last four or five years. We are wondering if we can come and pay a visit. And if yes when would be a good time? I have subscribed to your channel and regularly watch your videos. Thanks for sharing the every day experiences of your life on the farm.
I like Miss Bossy Pig 😊, glad you kept her!
I'm just curious. Why was bossy pig the one you chose to keep out of her siblings?
Thanks
Here is something that shocked me. In the United States all the population live in the top 1% in the whole world. Shocked? Me too. I think kids need to learn and experience that. When we go on vacation makes us appreciate where we live more. Good talk Pete. Neal
Worked on a breeder farm and never saw solid turds in pig poop. Literally didn't know that was a possibility, I thought pigs just forced liquid out their anus…
Isn't that crazy when we think about the fact that pigs have 98% of human DNA !
Gives me a weird feeling every time I bite into a slice of bacon. 🥴
Troy on Red Tool House has been having good results farrowing pigs the past couple of years
He raises pastured pigs
I'm with Hillary. Too much mandatory travelling in my past and now I just love the opportunity to stay home (and sometimes ALL BY MYSELF!)
I sincerely, enjoy your videos. I try dozens of other farmers, and frankly, it creates anxiety while watching them unfold their work. I feel I am working the farm instead of enjoying learning. Your segments are relaxing, informative and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to the next one.
I appreciate your hard work, Pete.
Love your Farm videos keeping them coming . Patti from a holler in West Virginia😊
Is Bossy Pig an Old Spot
always love your philosophical musings!
