Some WD40 and some buffing, all good!
There is a gear indicator adjustment in the dash. When the indicator does not aligned correctly with each gear selection. It throws the neutral safety switch off.
Second thought, you have enough extra wires ran to the bucket, you can wire it into the vans ing switch and use a key switch on the bucket.
33:45 i can wire that whole system on the bucket lift without any directions.
I would find bosch 30/40 amp relays with the metal mounting band VF4 and change all the relays. Those plastic relays are junk. Trust me the Bosch relays are much better. I would not go up in the bucket with that cheap shit.
You can add a remote start system on the van and set it for a 30 min run time. That way you dont need the key to start it, and if someone gets in and tries to drive it the motor shuts off when you touch the brake to shift it into gear. You can't drive off with the van.
If you have the key in it they could drive off with it and you up in the bucket.
My attention span was honed in the days before TikTok !! .. so I love me some Mustie 1 vids !! Thanks
at 46:30, the 12V will not shock you touching the probes bare handed??
tie the boom down before driving
1:21:05 Normally, a bucket truck w/o outrigger supports will use a sliding counterweight under the frame to keep it from rolling over when you are boomed out to either side.
Most industrial controls, such as the e-stop, will have imprints on one face that explain its operation, part #, sometimes internal diagrams. Every system is powered through the e-stop first, such that if ANY system fails, you push the button in & ALL systems are stopped. The one you have here uses a N.O. & N.C. Contact (to be wired as needed. Another set of contacts can be mounted along side for further controls of interlocks. The color of the plastic case most often describes the contacts functions. Different uses are normally indicated by color (within the same manufacture) for simplicity.
Does this truck not have outriggers or stabilisers for when the bucket is up, all the ones I have seen have them. Great video – again.
Master Mustie.
Back scratcher on the dash let’s me know the operator was a good guy. Lol.
I have noticed that the cars you work on are rusted as bad as the ones back here in Minnesota. They must use road salt as much as we do here. I Give any new car that hasn't been undercoated 5 years and then the cars or trucks are shot everything will be half gone from rust. There are some cars that handle the salt better then others but that's only if you get it washed a couple times a week. If you do that and get the underbody wash it will last a lot longer. But only if you keep up with the washes.
Could you use the truck as a deer stand for deer hunting😊
Xuse apony motor
Nice video question how did the Tundra handle towing that van?
A cute (funny story). I de-ice for ABX (I was a causal mechanic). A good day if you had two man concept. One man in the truck and one in the boom. Well my fellow co-worker was in the boom De-icing our company airplane. He finished his task and the boom would not lower. I am driving away from the airplane and driving with it fully extended maybe 5 mph. The 2-way com was cutting out and the pour soul must have thought I was gonna launch him out of the bucket. That was a great part time job. Rich S. 1989-2008.
Any tips on how to bleed these? I have the exact same bucket truck I use to paint my murals… and I need to purge it of some air…. and am stuck on why I cannot get all of it out? Any tips?
very late view, but watching him work in that lower relay box using tiny channel-locks or the wire strippers to take the nuts off those breaker switches made me cringe… use a 3/8 or whatever size socket and a driver for them!!!.. i know they aren't THAT tight, but use the correct tool for the job!!
Whatta a project 😄👍 Thank you for all the tutelage👌
Man I'm glad I don't live up there with all that salt on the road. It really destroyed your vehicles up there.
Mount a 5 gallon bucket with quick release latches in the back cargo area for taking dumps. Average man can go a month before filling the bucket depending if you piss when you dump. When you gotta poop you gotta poop.
what i wouldn't do to hang out with a guy like you for a day to just learn all the little stuff you've learned over the years from wrenching on stuff. i love your videos just from watching I've learned a ton of things
What is the trouble light you use? Do you like it? Looks handy with the flat cobb LED.
The man of so many talents and of course the ability to roll with the punches. Love you work. Thank you
Nice!
For home use I would personally probably put an electric motor (230V, single phase for you Americans) to the main (or a third) hydraulic pump to run it from the grid when doing home work, where power is available.
When you push the stop button on upper controls it kills the van engine. If you pull up it should start the van. Sometimes the e-brake and sometimes beacons have to be on for bucket to operate.
I wonder how much that thing weighs.
It might be a back up try terning the engine off and see if the pump let you go down it's emergency to get down only
I dont know if your a teacher but your shore good at it also thanks You for setting the camra up before starting again so we find out at the same time you do
Thats a win
I think I'd have cleaned the shaft and put loctite on it maybe. However, I watch you do things that I wouldn't attempt and make work.
On a different note, watching some of the repairs you have done has given me the courage to really step up my game on engines and the like. I replaced cam bearings for the first time today on a 302.
When I'm in doubt, I've decided "Don't worry, have a beer" until I stop stressing small stuff while I work lol. The more horrible repairs I get away with the more confident I get about WHY they work.
You couldn't pay me to own a 97 or newer Econoline with the Mod motor. Way too many issues and too expensive to fix. I've got a 96 E250 5.8L/E4OD. Mine the body is in worse shape then yours, but my frame is much better. I think you would have been much better off replacing the entire fuel system on your old Econoline. Much easier and cheaper to fix. Even if you tossed the EFI and converted it to a carb. The old push rod 351W V8's are so much simpler and cheaper to work on then those 4.6L/5.4L SOHC engines.
Red button is emergency shut down ,lift up lock normally for operating position down estop all operation. Other alt button for going down during primary pump fatiure.
id replace the lines from booster to back brakes …..if they arent totally gone now they will burst when driving
its not the solenoid its the p spot on the column sometimes doesnt make a connection…if you move it to neutral and start it and then park.
its the key switch…they go bad…put it in n and it will start
