We didn't get to see the start button replacement. Damnit.
You're going to use a pad that lost the backing plate? If, I mean when the pad wears down thin enough it will fall out, and that will cause a loss of brake pedal which can cause an accident. I would not do that. The price of a new set of pads is much lighter than the price of life or lives. When you read this could you please call your customer and tell them you will make it right? Thank you.
Ahh. You got brake clean in my eye.
Keep pulling on that slide pin there cupcake.
The bolt that never ends reminds me of when RoboCop removed his helmet.
I was going to comment that I, personally, would look into fixing the start button, but you beat me to it. That's funny.
Interesting that the rotors didn't have cooling vanes, but were solid
There is an adjusting knob on the sander that will tighten down the sanding paper so it doesn't ride halfway off the wheel.
Good job
I like that they used covers on the caliper bolts. Nice detail touch that is missing from most manf.
Hahahaha Wife unit: "Figure it out."
All done Wash up time
If you soap and water, it’ll take it right off with a scrub brush a lot of the manufacturers don’t like to use and brake clean on the rotors and they won’t warranty them
Both the brake lines and cables look short on the drivers rear, i believe.
do you ever ware hearing protection? that is some thing you might consider.
that 3x square is that unique to VW ? what was the size of the metal brush that you used to
clean out where the pins go? I have one of those when I replaced my constant velocity shaft on
my VW Beatle back in the day.
What grit is that rotary wheel disc, I use a wire wheel but don't know what grit to get for the wheel. I don't want to go to low in grit and eat alot of material off
I can almost taste and smell the friction dust……..unbelievable what the brain can create and make you believe……cause i sand my pads also.
Is the friction material bad for breathing when sanding it ???
I've heard of the chevy shake but never the wagon wiggle
Looks like zee belt is about to come off.
Use your vise.
Sure hope you were wearing a dust mask as that dust has copper and asbestos in it.
Also – here's a good tip, Put a coating of fluid film on the hub before installing the new rotor, that way rust wont be a problem next time…Eric O dose this every time and it's a good practice…
Too bad the brake lathe wasn't ready.
Nice brakes jobs
A+ for ingenuity Ray. I loved the belt sander burnishing tool. Improvise, adapt, and overcome, it's the mechanic way. Excellent video sir!ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
34:10 then the outer pad would be worn out 😉
No, u r not good… because it’s too tight….. best case scenario, the rotor and pad mate quicker, and do not overheat…. All it took would be a little push and twist on the piston, and yes there is a torque from the engineers for that bolts…
It confuses me somehow when u r working with two hands…😂 and as a guy from the metric world I’m also surprised about u measure brakeman’s in mm instead of 782 fortifivehundredths…
Is there a reason you never brake clean out the slide pin holes to get the old grease out?
