this 1979 reel mower was given to me from a subscriber that was cleaning out a property, this was one of the machines that filled up my trailer in unknown condition. so lets see how it works and if we can fix it.

"It was parked for having problems." Yeah, it probably kept munching up its owners.
Cylinder Mower
I really like your videos and have always been in awe of your lift.
I have tried to find one, but I am not sure what it is called.
When I search only motorcycle lifts come up, but yours is so much wider.
Cheers
Sunshine is on the other side of all life's storm clouds. Hoping that sunshine gets back to you soon. Hang in there whatever is going on. Your videos regularly teach this old dog new tricks and are most appreciated. Thank you.
Love these videos, great to watch with a cup of coffee or a beer.
Do you still have the bass boat? how's that going these days?
My father-in-law owned one of these. He used it exclusively to cut the grass on his putting green
Good Luck with everything Buddy, our prayers are with you.
Thanks Darren. Good luck with everything.
Always good to see the old Garage again.
I have an early 1950s, Reo Royal reel mower that Was my fathers. Im trying to find the time to get it running as it needs a bit of TLC. Reel mowers do a nice job if you have a good lawn, but you can’t let it grow too long as it won’t clip tall grass or weeds very well.
It is a real mower made for cutting bent grass on the greens at a golf course. You can tell by the blades. There are more blades than a standard reel mower and it’s a front feed.
Needs the air cleaner shaft reinstalled
Darren, you are the reason I began watching You Tube, back during the Covid shut down. I know I speak for others when I say we value your efforts.
I have an electric one Rolax make them, where I am from it's beeing used on the golf course on the greens.
sharpening reel mowers has two parts 1) sharpening the blades 2) adjusting the part that the blades work against
At 1 hour 15 minutes and 12 seconds what is that sports car in the upper right of the screen???
show us that sports car even if it's just a shorty!!
McLane Greens Keeper
I was the motor for one of these mowers when I was a pup. But mine thru the glass clippings out the back !! Had grass stains on my bare feet. Good times. Hang in there, Gods got your back.
Pulsejet carbs! Good stuff.
Thanks for being a stand up guy, I love your content ⚙⚙ you find some cool stuff.
What the…..did I miss an episode? Looks great, I better go check.
Life sometimes throws a curve ball at us. We always got to do what we got to do. Peace and love, Darren!
Thanks for sharing and being vulnerable
To get the bottom carb bolt out of the Briggs engine you remove the fuel tank first then can get straight on with the lower bolt.
Hi Darren, when setting up those cutter reels to the soleplate, when reground, they should cut a piece of printer paper cleanly anywhere along the reel. The older cast iron framed ones were much more rigid and could be set really closely. Try for just touching, then back off slightly to clear.
It looks like the reel mowers used on the greens of a golf course. I remember them from when I lived in Covington, LA.
Darren, I've been a long time viewer and I enjoy your videos very much. Regarding this one, has anyone in the comments below suggested that this mower was primarily used to maintain putting greens. I'm not 100% sure that it was only made for that purpose, but I know that it is especially suited for cutting very short grass to a uniform length. The ground also has to be fairly flat without lots of bumps and divots.
