  1. I remember the first Haynes manual I bought about 25 years ago. I was a young 19 year kid (no internet at the time) looking to repair my own car because I didn't have the money to pay a mechanic. One of the best investments I ever made. It was the beginning of many DIY repairs and the reason I've owned my current car about ten years and its still going strong.

  2. Be nice if this were still going on. I recently got a slightly newer car and though it has no problems yet, I wouldn't mind having a manual for it but they are not real cheap.

  3. Nice Video! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you researched – Tarbbatigan Cars Rehabilitation Tip (probably on Google)? It is a good exclusive guide for learning how to repair your car the easy way without the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cousin after a lifetime of fighting got cool success with it.

  4. I bought one of these last year when I had to take apart my brake drum, they worded the process but provided no photos for the parts, or what to remove/place back on in what order.

It ended up taking me a few hours to figure it out sadly, I ended up finding a video online and while I don't hate manuals I feel they are mostly obsolete for their purpose (you can find better instructions online/videos) and I just don't enjoy how they jump around the book.

You look up the section you need half way thru they tell you to jump to another random page, which is long and needlessly complicated for it's purpose (they hate to mention anything more than once) so half the instructions just point you into a different area of the manual which they previously removed said part to preform a different type of repair.

I still have mine but a rarely use it, just needlessly complicated for it's intended purpose (helping DIY'ers) but rarely goes into detail beyond "remove/replace it". Just feel they are the type of to take a photo of a transmission once removed from the motor and tell you to replace random part without any photos of what this part is, looks like, located.

"Replacing spark plugs, for you want to remove the plug wires from each cylinder while keeping track of the order they go in. Remove spark plugs one at a time and replace, for more detail please reference photo 1a"

… 1a is just a random photo of the motors top with no real context at all, location of the plugs, or what plugs look like. Granted this is extremely basic but the type of folks buying these manuals may very well not know how to change their oil or what a spark plug looks like or ever worked on a vehicle in general.

To me, with my limited experience all manuals are kinda junk when you can find significantly better instructions almost anywhere online. The random photos of a object and telling you to remove a random part might very well be impossible if they don't know what they are looking for thanks to the needlessly vague instructions.

  5. I'm not a fan of Haynes & Chiltons manuals. They are akin to CliffsNotes, IMO. They give a good overview, but often don't have the subtle differences/changes between model years. I am a firm advocate for getting the Factory Service Manual for your year/model car. It will pay for itself in the first service alone. If you want the Haynes/Chiltons as a supplement, then cool. But I would not rely on them for my primary source of info in repairing a vehicle. Just sayin'…

  6. Well, tried today, May 21, 2019 7:00 pm EST, to use the code with no luck. Unfortunately, MyHaynes must have decided to end the promotion before May21st. So sad, well, more like mad! But, thank you anyway Eric the care guy, because I am sure there were many people who got to take advantage of this great coupon code. Please try to get a coupon code for Tire Rack, bet a lot of folks would love that too. I'm looking for rims and tires.

  7. Gaaaah! I just bought one, like 2 weeks ago! For my "Dream Barn Find" 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer AMC 360! Paid like 36 bucks for the thing from AutoZone! Son of Ahhh!!! Lol!!
