I’m not surprised to see gutted cats on this one. The primary cats like to clog, when they do the debris can be recirculated into the engine which will cause oil burning and eventually failure. Very common these VQ40’s and VK56’s. I went through two cats after the third time I gutted them. Never got any efficiency codes. Unfortunately the damage was already done. Vehicle started consuming oil and blowing blue smoke occasionally. It developed rod knock driving home one night. I scrapped it shortly after. I put a lot of work into it, whole front end rebuild, tires, valve covers. It had 196k miles when I bought it. It died at 217k miles. Previous owners DID NOT take care of it.

Well I was searching as to why my 98 Jetta catalytic converter with a P0422 show bnak1 low threshold, remove it from my vehicle and it was completely gutter out just like in your case! Had to buy a new one but can’t afford a EPA one 😩. But on a positive note I learned how to diagnose bad coils, thank you for that teaching!!!
When Milwaukee sold out to TTI, TTI had to buy out Ridgid. It was a package deal. Milwaukee owns Ridgid; they are almost the same tool.

Your threads are the same as mine the lubricant is never visible on the thread it is supposed to penetrate to. Setting up a small plastic bottle with transmission fluid to test the penetration with that.
Valve lash adjuster mechanics immerse the cylinder part in Transmission oil which appears to be effective.

I watched a YouTube video about power tool batteries. they tell you how to connect a good battery to a bad one and Jumpstart the charging. they say the battery is not really bad. they were drained and won't begin to charge with the charger. I haven't tried it yet but you may want to check it out.

I have a RYOBI battery that was at 2 bars charged. When I plug it into the charger, it would flash, charge a little, then come on just red. I kept pulling it out and putting it back in the charger. Eventually, it started charging and reached a full charge. My RIDGID battery just keeps going to red. I had one RIDGID battery, say defective. One day, I pulled it apart. All the batteries were fully charged. I guess the circuit board went out. IDK
On my car, just removing the O2 sensors made them go bad. I tried not to bend the wires as much as possible. So, I twisted the wires less than you did, and both went bad. 🤷â€â™‚ï¸

I have a 2008 Frontier where all four converters and oxygen sensors were replaced since COVID quarantine and then replaced the engine in May 2023 as well as Bank 1 sensors and converters again, but P0420 has returned several times more. If I was in FL, I would schedule an appointment with you to get it done right. Really like my truck, but can’t justify buying new converters a third time. Any suggestions?
