In this video I bring you along as I diagnose the EVAP system on this 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 1500. A couple of quick tests and we have the problem solved. -Enjoy!

  1. Question: I have a 2016 chevy volt and i can smell gas in and around the gas cap area/rear right tire area. The "money light" as you call it is not on, just the gas smell. It is a Chevy but maybe its normal to have a "gas smell" from venting or could it be the gas scrubber/canister/charcoal filter (clearly i don't know what i am talking about), but any high level advice would be great. Thank you

  2. So I got a 2008 Silverado, I changed every sensor even the charcoal canister and I ran a smoke machine and no smoke was coming out but when I check my scanner it still says there’s a large leak, any tips would be greatly appreciated

  3. I stilll dont understand why when then vent valve is open( key off) the system wont release pressure from the tank!!! Doesnt make sense to me!!!. I had a tank that wont take gas for yeras..Have to fill right away– before drive far!! otherwise it builds up pressure..

    Hi i have a question
    I have a 2014 chevy silverado 4.3
N i have the very small leak code
I was following up with ur video n im a bit stuck checking the fuel tank pressure sensor its stays around .08 to .10inH2O and when i activate the vent it go goes to around .15 tops
I change the pressure sensor but did nothing the vent valve clicks so idk if thats the issue n already smoke the system and no leaks plz help me !!

  5. Hey, Thanks for the video! Very helpful to understand the EVAP system. Is it normal for the voltage to drop on the FT pressure sensor when pressurizing the system like you showed in this video? All the information I’ve found says the voltage should increase as pressure increases, I’m trying not to replace the fuel tank pressure sensor if it’s not necessary

Thanks again for the great video!

  6. I love how you asked,”Can you say Christmas?” Then a few seconds later-“Did I grow a V?” Ha ha! Love your channel. My 2009 Silverado LTZ 5.3L is exhibiting a weird albeit subtle behavior and an EVAP code 445 i think. It cycles on and off while in cruise on freeway about 60mph in 6th gear. You can hear it trying to do something, then it stops-then 30-60 seconds later does it again for 10 seconds, over and over. No loss of power. Runs great. I cleared the code, takes about 3 weeks for it to show up on the money light again-but it is in permanent for now.

  7. 05 Chevy, replaced pump 8years ago do to pump rust. last year heli-coil a couple intake mounting striped holes. Yes I was sweating bullets an made sure I didn’t loose my manhood: Couple months ago replaced rusty fuel lines , vent valve-front/ rear , map and tank sensor as preventative maintenance. Ran beautiful for 5hundred miles an radio reception. on til fuel cleaner an super fill made those codes come up , smoked tested at night with glow sticks only to find an intermediate rear sticking valve. Thank you sincerely for videos. Still determined to drive it up therefor an inspection sometime.

  8. I have a 2005 GMC Sierra half ton pick up with Evap system problems. I’ve done the purge valve in the tank and the canister valve like you did in your video and I’m still getting an engine light for the same code. What could it possibly be?

  9. I have both large and small leak codes so I changed gas cap, purge valve, and vent valve but still have same codes. Finally did smoke test but I don’t see smoke coming out. Any suggestions?
