On the knock knock knock issue I would have bought another sensor and mounted it somewhere else on the engine. I’ve done it on the 5.3 trucks with success.

The “key in ignition switch†that attaches to the Ford van lock cylinder has been a source of irritation for ford owners for a long time. When that switch retainer breaks the connector grounds out and actuates the warning chime even when the key is not in the lock cylinder.
When I worked on cars the engine wasn't sideways, front wheel drive sucks!

For the for van there's a lock kit (uncoded) that can be coded to the existing key. That way the customer doesn't have two different keys for the vehicle. I've done hundreds of those in my 27 years of locksmithing.
