Today we have a Jeep Wrangler Sahara with the 3.6 Pentastar engine. The customer states engine oil is leaking and it is a large leak. We placed the jeep in service mode and began the inspection. It was found that engine oil was leaking off of the valve covers, after lifting the jeep, we found more oil on the back side of the engine and on the transmission. The intake manifold was removed and then the lower intake manifold was removed. Engine oil was found pooling up in the valley between the cylinder heads. The oil cooler assembly was then removed and inspected for leak sources. The o rings were found to be deformed and leaking engine oil. This video is part two which features the installation of a Dorman Oil Cooler Assembly as well as valve cover gaskets, PCV fittings and a replacement lower intake manifold.

A YEAR LATER. I found out my problem with editing I needed a surge protector on my computer that really worked. One that I bought did not protect against anything, I bought it cheap from a store, and it was not working as it should have. Buy good surge protectors>

Do the owners of these vehicles occasionally see these videos and comment on their level of satisfaction?
I’ve never understood why Stellantis continues to the plastic oil filter / cooler housings when they have known for so many years, that this part is going to fail. At least Ford engineers had the foresight to use an all aluminum design, as on the 2.7. And it’s easy to access if ever needed for repair or replacement, unlike how they buried it on the Pentastar 3.6. I warn members in my Jeep group about the predestined failure of thier oil filter/ cooler housing and what a PIA it is to replace.

Also to anyone that has one of these 3.6 pentastar engines i strongly recommend looking into the spin on oil filter adapter made by Baxter..it eliminates the dry starts from the oil draining back down to the pan
But they do call the liquid teflon "thread sealant"
As a mechanic you have to grow a pretty thick skin but we forgive you anyway Ray
Mechanical designers should be required to work as a motor technician and mechanic for at least 5 years before they become a designer a lot of that kind of garbage would go away if they had to work on that garbage their self
I used to tell people take it back to the dealership that I would not work on it
And that nightmare of the battery box definitely over engineered completely and totally unnecessary
Torx Fasteners should be against the law as a 73 year old retired mechanic I never had anything but trouble with the damn things always stripping out hard to get out you can't get anything on them to get them out if the torque strips so in my opinion they should be outlawed
Jeep over engineered mechanics nightmare that's why I will never own one
It amazes me how many parts have to come off just to change valve cover gaskets and or change spark plugs on these modern engines. Your patience is amazing .

Just want to say that your quality to detail with your repairs is very good. I used to be a tech awhile ago and most people would slap all this back together too quickly. We'd see the vehicle again a few months later.
Good video , but I'm not buying AMSOil at even 16$ a quart. I stick with Supertech Walmart oil for $16 for 5 quart. My 20 year old vehicle doesn't deserve anything else.
