In this video I fix up a young ladies 2010 Dodge Journey that is starting to get pretty loud. The bolts were all rotted off the front Y pipe and the flex pipe was also broken. Let’s get this fixed before it goes full NASCAR on her.
-Enjoy!

The Dodge Journey with the 4 "exhaust pipes.
When cutting the rear slip joint you should have left about 3 inches of the pipe being removed instead of cutting to the joint. This way you could collapse the inner pipe and extract it from the slip joint. Yes heating the joint would help to break a rust but you'd have a better grip to pull it out.
35:30: a better way was to cut the flex pipe at least a few inches forward of the joint and bust it loose with a pipe wrench. And that was on a 15 year old Journey in Nova Scotia
Great job on a rusty old Dodge. Ya done good.
no jeep hat ????
Those splined studs are a super PIA. Obviously used for rapid assembly. Couldnt you cut the inner pipe longitudinally with your
Sawsall, then peel out the inner pipe? Really nice job, on what is always a PIA.
I think I would have removed that cross member, but I always do more than some people think necessary. Id probably wire wheel prime and paint the damn thing too. Id definitely use stainless steel bolts going back. I know, I know, it's not mine, it's a shop. The fact that Eric does not wear long leather gloves while torching drives me nuts. Thanks for the tip on the ratchet wrenches. Much Appreciated.
Eric the inside pipe… Could you use a hook tip on a dent puller. catch the far side and reverse little nasty it out?
I was glad of the 55 years in my shop to have never caught the carpet on fire doing stuff like this Eric. My health made me retire.
What nuts and bolts? I only saw spikes 😂
I noticed you used an electric saws-all. I more often see battery operated saws-alls. Is this a preference? As always thank you for for your most informative SMA shows to include Mrs O and your pets.
Plasma cutter will work on that inner alloy pipe. Although you did what you had to get the job done! Thanks for sharing your videos.
You earned your pay on that one Eric. Well done Sir!
Good video Peter, great outcome ðŸ‘

My Knuckle Buster…
all my left hand is good for is holding my wedding ring and counterbalancing my right hand so I walk without a lean to one side.
O this brings back memories when I worked at Monroe Muffler. I'm glad I don't do it anymore. Lol
My neighbor has one of these with a blown out flex pipe! He starts it every morniing at 5:30 am and lets it idle till 5:45–6:00 when he leaves for work
Ohhh noooo that exhaust clamp at an angle, I cannot abide by that…..(consider me triggered)
Steve Perry approves this repair…
I love Eric O exhaust repair vids.â¤
I think all your videos are absolutely great
Eric, love your channel and your realism. Keep it going.
Im here for the cat.
I enjoy every single South Main Auto video oh and by the way if you're trying to save the gal some money you may want to spray the bottom side of that car with some OSFO and an oil bath! Great job Eric looking out for your clientele I wished all mechanics work like you
No Mrs O but thanks Mr O for a great video
Love your patter😂. As we say in Scotland. ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ”§ðŸ‘
dropping things into the exhaust pipe, lol. many would leave it all in there and have customer saying "my exhaust is quiet, but there's a weird rattling sound now". 🤣
That repair there will outlast that Dodge. No worries.
