In this video I have a look at a ladies Subaru that she had at another shop for a brake light problem. They informed her they “jerry rigged” it (or “jury rigged” if you want to be grammatically correct). That’s fine if you intend on fixing it the following day or so I suppose. Any how, let’s undo the jerry and fix this thing the right way.

Good job Cool!
A yard I used to go to where you could get your own parts was sold, the brothers who owned it retired, now they won't let you anywhere near the cars and if they have to pull a part they tell you to come back in a couple of days, this is in New Jersey and I wouldn't be surprised if liability is the issue also the new owners are Spanish like everyone else around where I live. I needed a cruise control cable for my 2001 LeSabre, the guy at the front desk said come back tomorrow, I go back and he said they didn't have time to look for it, I was pissed and convinced the guy to let me go look, of course I had an escort, the LeSabre was there but the cable was missing, I waited for nothing. On my out of the area I noticed a park Ave ultra across the street with no plates on it so I stopped opened the hood and there it was the same cable, I grabbed it and took off, I don't normally steal anything but that time I made an exception because the guy wasted my time.
What about the switch you took out of the glove box?
"If I was a real scumbag, thats how we could do it. I can put it in the Crosstrek. Then when the lady shows up and say wait a minute lady…you got a brake light out. And then sell her the part again…double whammy, get paid twice! But I'm not a scumbag." No, you're not a scumbag….and we all agree. Thanks for all the honest work you do, Eric.👌

Couple years ago I got pulled over in westchester county New York, one brake light was out. Gave me a ticket and said I had 24 hours to get it fixed and drive to any police station in New York to have it inspected or pay the fine. I live in Connecticut about 45 minutes from the state line. What a prick that cop was.
Jerry's are everywhere!!!!!
Before i see too much, i'll guess "bad ground" ! I'm seven minutes in !
Since the switch had been replaced and it took a hard push tom get them to light up, I would have checked the adjustment. Might get another police stop if pushing the brake lightly.

Eric
You don't crush the cars to get money Derek, you sale the parts. Then when nothings left you crush the car. Wilbert is not crushing cars to pay for some assholes healthcare.
Are the cars at Wilberts are headed to the crusher!
I'd call it , it's ready for the Crusher.
Winner of a Chinese dinner
You have more patience than a virgin 😂
I'd miss Slater Bros in Birmingham U.K. by best go to. Rescued me numerous times â¤
Our last local salvage yard closed. ☹
5:30 dirty little 🌠beaters 😂
I would have immediately thought….bad ground on tail light.
Don't call me a jerk. Ha Ha. I wonder how the term "jerry rigged" got started?
Jerry is Diane Riggs brother
What? 85 cents or 85 dollars? Is that what i heard you say?
What a relief three years on knowing the Wilberts is safe!
I noticed at Wilbert’s how nice the vehicles were sitting out on some nice gravel. Our salvage yards around here you have to dig through grass 3ft tall to get to the vehicle !
wilbert's needs to change their name to "Wilbert's U-Pull-it of Bath, NotASponsor"
I know I'm 3 years late commenting but, I love Eric! "Way to go Jerry, Jerk!"
I thought that video was interesting. It points out that some twited contacts in a rear marker light socket, can caused several other lights, some in the front, to misbehave.
I am not sure I would have looked in that socket. I will look in the future just to play it safe.
Dealing with the results of Jerry can be quite mystifying. 🤔😬
People doing things wrong was a big part of when I worked at an independent shop. Eric O always double checks the basics 👠and to jerrys out there: 🖕
OH goodie,,,,a junk yard run.
Any kind of a personal touch anywhere you go has just about gone extinct.
Jerry means German. lol.
Dirty Jerry
Another thing that'll work for depressing the brake or accelerator pedal is a $10 large board clamp from Harbor Freight. You just turn the clamp pads to where they are facing the opposite direction from each other, and you're good as gold.
Jerry rigged it pretty good.
They wanted to close down small business th bastards
When i was a deputy sheriff many years ago, we had a radio tech that worked on our cars. His name was Jerry. Everything he did was not according to Hoyle, but he did Jerry rig everything. It did work for the most part but there were times when we had to redo the Jerry rig. Thanks for the videos Eric. Love them.
In England we say don’t be a Karan.
Just a thought, buy that ice cream store
Eat and slurp all the profits for a year or so…then carry on 😮
I Know this is an old video, couple of coments, the reason for being pulled over appears like the brakes require full hard application before the lights come on, i/e the switch is incorrectly adjusted. Second I LOVE the visits to Wilberts, remints me of mu Uni days getting scrap parts to keep my cars going 🙂
Question Sir, what is the make and model number for the wire stripper/crimper you use in this video? Thanks in advance.
Nice video.
The man can decipher gibberish after years in the shop. Many of these problem descriptions are odd.
I am sure you changed the name (jerry) to protect the guilty !!! Right ?
😂😂😂😂😂â¤
What isn't expensive in NY State? Probably second only to Cali.
