Every once in a while, we do get a diag in the shop that NO ONE HAS TOUCHED! It is rare but it does happen. Typically, by the time the car gets here it has been to several shops or backyard diy’ers and is a real mess. However, this 2015 Caravan rolled in with a simple problem, a straightforward diag and I was its first 😏

  1. Eric – love every diagnostic / troubleshooting YT video you produce – no doubt – you are a very knowledgeable , ACE technician. Though I do not possess the experience and knowledge to the caliber you hold , I almost learn something from EVERY video you produce. That being said, your vast experience and knowledge you share with your audience , to me , is priceless and, speaking for myself has always sharpened my own troubleshooting abilities when working on my own vehicles but , now that I am in my early 60’s , and the fact that todays automotive engineers cram 10 lbs of parts in a 5 lb bucket – I am at the age where I really pick and choose what I want to fix myself 🧐😏 – IE : I really do not like to disassemble half the vehicle just to access something as simple as replacing the bulb in a headlight 😐
    It is ridiculous 🤨

  2. I'm guilty of using the Amazon special sometimes. Chrysler wants $350 for the trailer brake module for my truck, or I could get a "refurbished" one for $70. Opened it up, it appears to just be a used one, probably pulled out of a wrecked truck or something.

Worst case, if it dies, I'll just unhook it and go back to the bluetooth Curt one I've been using. But $70 and programming the BCU to acknowledge it is a lot more affordable. (And rather than splicing in an aftermarket one it just connects to 2 pre-existing plugs. Way cleaner)

  3. Hey Eric, when you say “service data” are you referring to a specific program, or is that a generic term for any of the programs (Identifix, Motor, Alldata, etc)?

  4. I had an older Buick 80's that wouldn't start until I found one injector with a low resistance 3ish omhs should have been 12, once I disconnected it it fired up right away!

  5. Hey Eric got a question for you. I got a 2006 jeep liberty with the 3.7 liter v6. It's got 236,000 miles on it. And I think the heater core is junk. Because when temps here in PA get below 35 it takes forever to warm the inside. You gotta drive it like 25 miles before your warm inside. I've changed the radiator and thermostat and didn't help then it started fogging up the window on the inside and you always smell antifreeze. I had my local garage flush it but it didn't help at all. It's not leaking on to the floor and the antifreeze is completely full. It's gonna cost me about $400 to have it changed but I wanna know if that is what my problem is before I change it. If you can give me your advice on it I would really appreciate it bud. Thanks.

  6. When someone brings me a vehicle that has been heavily screwed with, I evaluate the situation, and how much it affects the reason I'm looking at it.
If, 'where I have to go', looks like the losing end of a war zone, I point, I suggest, offer some advice and say, "Sorry Dude/Ma'am, but I'm not fiddlin' in that mess"…. and send it down the road.(usually, to later hear about how the next shop really bent them over….) I'm so paranoid of getting blamed for a hack job, I won't touch one.

  7. You are the Sherlock Holmes of car circuit diagnostics…. I have never seen anyone with a better understanding of modern autos network, sensors, computers… thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

  8. I had an '08 Grand Caravan that would get a cylinder 1 misfire code every once in a while. I checked the spark plug, plug wire, and coil and all were fine. I determined that I had an injector that was failing intermittently. I bought a new Mopar injector and changed it myself. No more misfires. I did NOT change all the injectors because I was trading the van in no long after the repair.
