Who would have thought a simple tail light video on a Mini Cooper Could have turned into this? I didn’t really want to post this because it was kinda of a silly repair but I thought you could at least has a chuckle at my expense 😅 This is what I get for dabbling in the Euro car side of things.

I have a 2010 SAAB 9-5 with one reverse light and have been told multiple times my "burnt out" reverse light.

Hehe, I noticed the asymmetric light units right away. In the UK we have a lot of poverty-spec cars with just the one reverse light! 😄
Fun fact, Scion also only has one reverse light!
Yes BMWs have rear fog lights for EU and they typically don't bother to do anything significant to remove it for the US market. Example, in a 2018 440, the button is covered and if you install the button you magically have rear fog lights.

Time spent learning something new is NEVER lost. This is never a mistake. The customer paid you to learn and fix their vehicle. You did your job. That's why the customer brought the vehicle back to you and not the dealer.
You lost an hour, I would have lost the afternoon and then some.
The funny thing is some states will and can give you a ticket for inoperable equipment. By rights they should replace the tail light and repin it back to us standers.

So left rear fog light does not work? You pay good money for a Cooper. N they just put a so called spare bulb?

Eric I have had similar situations like yours. I hate Euro trash cars, but my boss keeps taking them in and giving them to me!
Had me going too, wanted to yell no don't pull that wire, it the first thing they check if you import a car into England now that they are not part of EU, they go over the cars with a tooth comb , even tyres that are legal in the EU DONT'PASS IF THE DONT HAVE England's trye code on them, perfectly good new tyres will not pass without the right code on them My astra convertible has 2 very bright red Fog lights at the back, I use them if people are tailgating me as the add brighter lights to the car make them keep back after a while.
Gee. Chevy cars have 2 back up lights. Hmmm.😊

Catching up here with watching vids, and with a late comment…Lived in England and mainland Europe for many years. Had both a right-hand drive car, and a left-hand drive car. Yup, only a single reverse light as well as the single rear fog light…Thinking American spec cars should have a rear fog light…why not…visually, the bright rear fog light aids other drivers approaching a vehicle ahead of them in foggy or heavy rain/snow conditions.
Not sure if the European reverse light is brighter than American spec cars. Never had an issue/concern with not being able to see when reversing with just the one reverse light.
