“When they were marketing natural gas as clean energy, they didn’t really know what they were talking about because they were fixated on the idea that natural gas, when burned, produces half the carbon dioxide emissions of coal,†says Dar-Lon Chang, who worked at Exxon Mobil from 2003 through 2019, in this excerpt from part three of “The Power of Big Oil.†“But without measurement devices to verify that you’re not significantly leaking, you can’t be sure that your natural gas is actually giving you less of a global warming impact than coal.â€
At the time, Exxon Mobil and others in the industry said they were working to reduce methane emissions, which were already within limits set by the EPA. But “The Power of Big Oil: Delay” goes on to recount how some in the environmental community were witnessing widespread leaks — and how, in the years since, numerous studies have pointed to the dangers of methane emissions from oil and gas production.

I said this for years.. even cow and pig farms produce way more greenhouse gas than a car we use… the companies are not capturing literally produce worthy energy going up in the air.

The Earth is cooler w the atmos/GHGs/albedo not warmer.
To perform as advertised the GHGs require "extra" energy upwelling from the surface radiating as a black body.
The kinetic heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmos molecules render that scenario impossible.
No greenhouse effect, no GHG heating, no man/CO2 driven climate change or Gorebal warming.

This is what happens when the infinity of time can only be perceived as fiscal quarters. In such a mind and the culture it creates there is no such thing as the future.
The problem with so-called natural gas is fracking, a horribly dangerous and contaminating process. So, it is NOT the answer to anything but the destruction of our few aquifers that aren't destroyed yet. (See Fire Coming Out of Faucets)
Methane is 300x as potent a greenhouse gas as carbon dioxide, and with the permafrost melting away as never before in human history, there is no stopping our current change to the hothouse world we're in the beginning of becoming.
