Felling a Tree Gone Wrong

When things go wrong felling a tree, they go wrong fast. I’ve been cutting firewood for 45 years, and it’s a dangerous business. I’m cutting down a leaning beech tree today and I miscalculate the tree’s center of mass, making the wrong size notch cut and an incorrect back cut. The results are a dangerous vertical split in the tree trunk and a tree hung up in neighboring trees. Luckily I am not harmed but it takes some extra work to get the tree onto the ground.
