We're making sure that that gear is facing The right way.
Ray some day that power tool is going to get your ass in big trouble especially using it on spark plugs.
was trying to figure out why you didn't sound like your normal chipper self – then i realized this vid is from the days before your shop opened.
No Wonder! one day of self employment beats a life time of working for others.
that chain drive socket offset thinger is definitely cool –
You have way more patience than me. Not much made me crabbier than standing on my head in an engine compartment.
I believe that the oil Ford recommends for this engine is way too light. These engines work in Australia without these failures, they use 10W 30 full synthetic oil and get well over half a million miles without issues. The bad things about us Americans are, we do not change engine oil as we should
Sad weebywooblies, cheerful Doodley doos, and satisfactory audible clicks. ANOTHER!!!
Hey Ray where did you get your actuated caliper piston compressor brake tool?
I understand ray those jobs are tuff
Once i had those timing tensioners not really work after i pulled the grenade pin, I wonder how common this is in aftermarket vs. OEM parts.
You should have changed the water pump while you were there
Yeah, something would accidentally happen to the shop phone ringer if I worked there. Y'alls job is to work on cars, not answer the phone, so the shop ringer isn't needed anyway.
what kind of crap shop would make a worker work on his own time if he made a mistake?!?!?! is that really how it is?!?!?! jeeez thats pretty crap. id prolly set the shop on fire if they tried that crap with me
Very helpful video. I enjoy watching your vids. Also, I hope you have received and enjoy your package.
The high speed dodedooo's 🤣
Who ever designed this engine needs to be taken out to the shed and flogged….
I've noticed it's kind of proportional the more rays contorted and deeper in his work the more the guys seem to come over and ask him questions like having a bunch of three-year-olds in the house not really but it just seems to happen that way and as far as focus but I'm into stuff like that I have to stay focused and also you know it's just as far as at the end of the day and before I go in and to drive to work I kind of run a road map through my head both ways to figure it out and make sure I have an overlooked anything cuz I understand it's not how bad you mess up it's how you fix your mistakes sometimes you just got to eat humble pie and move on first quitting a job well it happens if you never tried to do anything you never messed up have a good evening bye
Hi Ray I'm no macanic but I have learned so much you are an inspiration to the next generation of mechanics, your knowledge of of cars and trucks is very amazing I appreciate everything you do. Keep up the good work my friend
WOW 1st class very kool great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
Why can’t you unhook the phone ringer ?
Yea. I know you are hard working. I can see all the pains you have. When will you take a Vacation? You should video that
Been there bro Automotive Delirium Is definitely Real And Its these ford tritons that drive you insane @30:00 @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Going back together alot smoother then it came apart but that's how it always goes on engine work and most work on the entirety of a Vehicle @Rainman Ray's Repairs
The slow motion the the wobbley swivel 8mm Socket was epicb @23:08 @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Ray, when putting in the rollers, just place them in 'the spot' and instead of compressing the spring, wedge/force them onto the stem with ….yes. zee prysen bar !
YOU WOULD HAVE HAD LESS STRESS IF YOU DROPPED THE ENGINE FOR THIS COSTLY REPAIR ?
Pretty sure that phone ringer is all about the fact that the factory warranty is expired on your car ,,,
They don't know what car , so I tell them about my 1920 Ford TT truck needing a two speed rear end overhaul
Really appreciate your work Ray, especially being a retired 77 yr old mechanic with bad arthritis in my fingers, time goes by fast! getting old sucks!
I think we need a "Sing it, Petey!" shirt.
I wish I had some one like you to maintane my car. Great work Ray.
I'm not a mechanic, but I can really relate to the first start. It's the exact same thing I get for the first power-on after building a computer (that's what I do).
was glad to see you be generous with the sili-con-carne.. The bigger the gob, the better the job, AMIRITE?
I’m just as tired as Ray is. I can feel his exhaustion. Been there. Done that. Can’t say I liked it.
Thanks for all the play by play on this and I do admire your skills and the care with which you do your job. I know criticism is the last thing you want to hear after three days on this job. However, I need to point out that was way too much dielectric grease on those coil packs. The dielectric grease, which is an insulator, should make a seal between the boot and the ceramic of the plug.
With that much on the coil packs you risk having some on the connection between the coil pack and the plug top which could lead to misfires and/or shorten the coil pack life due to the increased resistance. It's best to apply a small amount to the inside of the boot so it will help seal the ceramic of the plug with the boot but not make contact with the top of the plug when inserting the coil pack.
this is total bs napa will not do this kind of work
co-workers prolly calling to get the DODODODODOOOO 😀
This is the same type of motor kinda we had in our hughschool shop donated from Ford. I've rebuilt these motors so many times i can't count. I could probably still do it blindfolded even though it was in the early 2000's
Looks like Ray missed adding silicone at the joints for the passenger side valve cover.
Edit, he just caught the error, glad to see.
man I woulda swapped out that water pump to while things were easily accessible if I were the customer
The amount of money you guys spend on tools
You've also passed the threshold of not being able to English as well.
Unless they are held in with a lower fastening, I would have removed the cover bolts completely as they tend to get caught on stuff and increase the chances of dislodging the gasket.
