In a previous video https://youtu.be/MWW1EM1DbPg?si=C4GbunslupRpIxMd I had a look at a customer’s Chevy Trax that has had some shoddy work done at another shop. Now it is time to see what the world has happened and see if we can get this thing back on the road.

  1. Did he got to Billy Bob's Auto Repair Shop Eric ?, absolutely unbelievable how rough were they , the poor guy , he needs to go back to them with your invoice and a judge 😊

  2. Eric have you ever not been paying attention and press the new bearing in backwards I have been there what a bit—ch when you are working at home with no garage. Eric you’re the best

  3. Looks like whoever was doing all the other bearings was buying cheap aftermarket parts. Then instead of pressing them in they hammered them in. If you look at the outside edge of the bearing it looked rolled from something striking them.

  4. As a retired engineer old school tapered roller bearings are the correct way to design wheel bearings . Tapered roller bearings are best for low rpm and high loads and used to last the life of the vehicle. Now cheaper ball bearing are best for higher rpm and lower loads and surprise they fail much sooner. Todays cars and trucks have poor engineering with marginal design to last just long enough to be out of warranty.

  5. I dont understand that car owners who are local to SMA take there cars to any other shops i realise that there is maybe other good shops in the area but i know were i would go but Scotland is a little to far to travel.

  6. Someone really screwed this guy out of some serious cash. Eleven bearings my a..! PS.. After watching this to the end, maybe it was just a friend trying to help that was .. clueless? I don't understand the 'other shop' moniker though.

  7. Been building up my old mans 78 Corvette, (Im about 45 minutes away) should be ready for inspection next spring. Ill see if SMA will honor me with a sticker! I'd love to buy a shirt too.

  8. i have 5 holden commodore's they have the gm 3.8 ltr v6 steel on steel in front of a 4l60 1998/2003 all around 250 000 klm because i watch you and ivan i havn't been to a shop for like 15 years thanks for all your help your my best mate and i don't even know you

  9. You got the bolt grade right on the second try. No makings is a Grade 2 bolt (assuming SAE), Three marks is Grade 5 and 6 marks is a Grade 8 bolt. There are other markings, but those 3 are for SAE. This info is provided for those that may not know that.
