In a previous video https://youtu.be/MWW1EM1DbPg?si=C4GbunslupRpIxMd I had a look at a customer’s Chevy Trax that has had some shoddy work done at another shop. Now it is time to see what the world has happened and see if we can get this thing back on the road.
-Enjoy!

This wasn't a shop. This was either an owner diy or ray ray in a pep boys/autozone parking lot.
Did he got to Billy Bob's Auto Repair Shop Eric ?, absolutely unbelievable how rough were they , the poor guy , he needs to go back to them with your invoice and a judge 😊
Eric have you ever not been paying attention and press the new bearing in backwards I have been there what a bit—ch when you are working at home with no garage. Eric you’re the best
When the customer said it was in the previous shop for months, what he meant was it sat in his next door neighbors back yard for months
Great video guys! Nice recovery on the windows and wall!
She's smoked
Cmon, let’s hit 1 million subscribers
I've done a few of these for myself over the years and even when I didn't give a hoohaa about car I did a better job than that other shop. Wow
You get what you pay for. just saying
That bearing looks like it was "buffed" on a belt sander to make it easier to drive it in with a framing hammer and axle flange.
Looks like whoever was doing all the other bearings was buying cheap aftermarket parts. Then instead of pressing them in they hammered them in. If you look at the outside edge of the bearing it looked rolled from something striking them.
Drove a long time with a noisy bearing.
ha ha!! i don't know I think that rotor is messed up….. 🤣
They would have been better to put on some low mileage used spindles
As a retired engineer old school tapered roller bearings are the correct way to design wheel bearings . Tapered roller bearings are best for low rpm and high loads and used to last the life of the vehicle. Now cheaper ball bearing are best for higher rpm and lower loads and surprise they fail much sooner. Todays cars and trucks have poor engineering with marginal design to last just long enough to be out of warranty.
my 01 Monte carlo SS axel nut is 156
I dont understand that car owners who are local to SMA take there cars to any other shops i realise that there is maybe other good shops in the area but i know were i would go but Scotland is a little to far to travel.
Hit it with the claw hammer again Bobby Joe she will go in. That noise is ok it will stop after 200 miles or so. Let 's go to coffee and a touch.
Someone really screwed this guy out of some serious cash. Eleven bearings my a..! PS.. After watching this to the end, maybe it was just a friend trying to help that was .. clueless? I don't understand the 'other shop' moniker though.
Nice to see you back. Hope everything is going ok
Had a 87 Tercel, wound up burning a valve from using higher octane gas,,,
Thanks for the great videoâ¤
Been building up my old mans 78 Corvette, (Im about 45 minutes away) should be ready for inspection next spring. Ill see if SMA will honor me with a sticker! I'd love to buy a shirt too.
At least it's entertaining 😊 poor owner! Got to get it right ðŸ‘
I have encountered this before, good thing the brake bracket keeps the wheel on if the nut comes undone.
talking about hammers i see not you a lot yof you tubers that use carpenter hammers can't figure that out
i have 5 holden commodore's they have the gm 3.8 ltr v6 steel on steel in front of a 4l60 1998/2003 all around 250 000 klm because i watch you and ivan i havn't been to a shop for like 15 years thanks for all your help your my best mate and i don't even know you
Where did they take this, to Red Green?
Incompetence drives me crazy. Incompetence for money too. Doubly insane. Fix him up Eric. Good man.
The other shop had a claw hammer a screw driver par of players and a rock to hit things with 🤪
Too many people forget to STAKE the axle nut on that style axle. Have seen it done wrong so many times!
You got the bolt grade right on the second try. No makings is a Grade 2 bolt (assuming SAE), Three marks is Grade 5 and 6 marks is a Grade 8 bolt. There are other markings, but those 3 are for SAE. This info is provided for those that may not know that.
Can’t believe what you get into!
I can't believe a shop that does this kind of work is even in business. There is nothing like endangering people's lives. 😮
11:47 what magnet?
Been watching your channel for years.
Finally figured out who you sound like. James Arness, Gunsmoke.
It sure puts alot of stress on those bearings, when the hub gets pressed in. The old style, inner & outer wheel bearing assemblies were superior.
