As requested by the viewers we get a closer look at the broken valve in the 2009 Ford Escape 2.5 that we diagnosed in a previous video. Some viewers commented that they could see the broken piece in the cylinder and on top of the piston. Time to find out if they were seeing things! -Enjoy!

  1. Eric, how do you go about balancing work demands and family time. As stated this couple only has this car, a miss on a motor thats going to be replaced isn't a large issue. At what point do you say hey this is family time and the customer can use the vehicle as is until we can replace the said part or get a rental? I ask as I don't know work life balance.

  2. If you choose which I did from my car with that same motor is keep the old cam parts and other miscellaneous parts for a later job the camshaft is getting harder to find a lot of them get damaged during reassembly so save what you can ❤

  3. Yes, you absolutely COULD have done a valve job, but how long would the bottom end have lasted ? I would have loved to rebuild the motor.

  4. 6yrs late. Great video. All the naysayers were wrong!!! I saw the elephant in the room! They just need glasses. Or stop using the wacky weed!!!😂

  5. Erie that was a good call. It would not been long before the motor would have been a smoker .or have been blown up . Erie you can not make everyone happy like i said good call

  6. I Believe Some People Just Don't have the Perspective to Know What Their Looking at in the Mechanical Realm. Especially when it Comes to Valves, how they're Mounted in the Head and What You Should be Looking For.
Excellent Previous Video Analysis of Exhaust Valve, scope showed it all.

Great Breakdown of Engine, thanks for taking the time.

  7. My daughter has a very similar issue. I wish you would have told us about how much the used engine and replacement ended up costing. Between $1000-$2000?

  8. Just wanted to say Hey..! From the boonies in northern Ontario and to let you know i’ve watched a few of your videos now and as a man of 54 who’s been wrenching on my own stuff since i was 16 …!
    Your knowledge and absolutely excellent
    diagnostic procedure’s
and workmanship has me impressed fella!!
Need more professional’s like yourself back in your profession…!
    Keep up the good work
and all the respect to ya..! Take care !!

  9. looks like a burnt exhaust vale caused by worn valve guides and or leaking valves. Engine is about worn out at least on the upper end and probably the lower end too.

  10. Bottom Line if it was your Vehicle, you would have simply repaired the Engine ….. You did not state the Cost of the Plan B other ENGINE . ……… Perhaps you wanted to make the Most from your customer. It was a SINGLE Valve -Job, problem.. You could have checked for the Valve was bad in that cylinder before the take down, and scoped for any Possible, piston damage. ..Either Way its at Minimum, VALVE JOB,. Best case, rebuild put in new guides, rings, bearings, replace, or Grind the Valves, with New Valve guides, , HONE out the cylinders new gaskets , Torque to Specs, parts are not that Bad, … .. and drop it in .. and client has a New Engine for another 170K Miles.. You get a New customer for LIFE .

  11. Thank you for the video was very helpful but after i saw the video I have a 2008 Ford Escape in the morning I got hard time to start the engine so that means is miss fire so one velvet is broken i spend l lot it money on this car already so what you recomen me to do take to the junkyard

  12. Just a quicky, why did you reassemble the engine after you did the diagnosis video?? Did they continue to use the car up until the engine swap? I have the same 2009 Escape with the 2.5. I also just developed a misfire on cylinder 1. I'm hoping for a simpler resolve than a compression problem. I'll find out Saturday morning on the driveway. Thank you for ALL your very helpful videos!!!!!!!
