That hammer kit is $700 bucks😢
Watched your video several times before I took off the wheel and got a good look. I've got LEAF springs instead of coils. Any idea why and if that will make a difference? It's a 1997 F250 diesel extended cab.
Man you have a great sense of humor loved the video !
Its amazing how many front ends are neglected.
If not a bar… Rusty Nipples Garage
Doctor
What are the torque specs for the tie rods, sway bar, and that center crown nut on the outside for the RWD model?
Good job bro ðŸ‘
Smack the knuckle between the the rod and the drag link. It will take you ~5 good wacks every time
I am always impressed by the mechanics in the Rust Belt. Anyone who has done this understands how laborious and frustrating it can be. Everything has to be replaced, zero question about it…and PLEASE use anti-sieze to help the next guy out!
I used to love doing these on the 2wd's. They called for 4+ hours and I could get them busted out in less than 2. Was a good money maker for me. I never pressed them out or used a bj tool I used heat and a air hammer and they were so simple.
A brooks 8 lb brass hammer to that knuckle would of done the job on those tie rods. I betcha!
Thanks for the idea boss 1 1/8 pickle fork finally did me the trick after 2 days of hammering.
Bro . . . . . . No video of the wheel bearing R&R on the fella's EZ-go scooter??? 😆
ðŸ‘
Only cuz you mentioned it a few hundred times here's one, why haven't you ground the mushroom tip off the pickle fork?
HI Eric! I have watched so many of your videos I feel like we are related LOL. Being a tech guy, I appreciate your attention to detail on everything that you do. I also appreciate the tips and tricks that you provide that helps us back yard mechanics. I wish I had even a small amount of your camera skills. I highly doubt you will ever need help with your computer, I imagine you are well versed in that field as well, but if you ever have any questions please visit my channel, or send me an email. Thank You for creating this channel as I use it for most all automotive needs. Would definitely like to see an upper and lower ball joint video for 2005 silverado as I am restoring my old truck. Anyway Happy Sunday!! Thanks Again, you are the best!! 🙂
Just scared up a 700 dollar set of hammers
I would feel guilty also I looked at that set of hammers a while ago and the price almost knocked my boots off but it's the only set you would need for life
I bought the 3/8 nano impact several months ago and it's one of the best impacts on the market I'm buying the 1/4 impact rachet that you use next because 1/4 is the first thing I grab unless it's big stuff like balljoint etc.
I bought an OEM 1/2 drive battery impact gun at the pawn shop 2 weeks ago got the complete set up for 45 dollars and it surprised me I've tried it on everything and amazing it not only does lug nuts but it removes and installs ball joints so I'm glad I brought it I won't use it on every balljoint job I just tested it and it takes driveshaft bolts out with ease you know they have locktite the entire length I would recommend OEM to anyone now
I work on these in the south so i guess take it with a grain of salt but i have changed these uppers and lower bjs with the hub and axel still together. What made you take it all apart?
Good work as always Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Beautiful brass punches and chisels and Hammers From Brooks Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Lmfao that does sound like a Bar the old Rusty Nipple 😂 Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
I have never seen a Ford front hub slide off that easily. It usually requires a 6 pound hammer, a pry bar and an air chisel. And the dust shield will be destroyed. Anyone owning a Ford 4 wheel drive built in the last 15 years will get plenty of experience replacing steering components and brakes.
Is using a torch a bad idea if you have an oil leak and there’s oil everywhere? Curse of the 7.3 😂
On a 2wd, do you need to take out the bearing and axle to replace the tie rods?
First day?
I have always wondered… know I know
Whst size is the big pickle fork?
