Getting the Pole Barn Addition off the Ground & Scrappin'

The pole barn addition is taking shape! We’re also cleaning up scrap metal today, and I get the Farmall H out to prepare it for the season.

  1. I know that is your favorite tractor, but man, it looks very dangerous, especially with that sickle bar mower on it. My uncle had an old JD tricycle tractor like that; one day, he was out in the field and hit something, throwing him off the tractor into the back tire, and it ran over him. Sadly, my favorite uncle is gone now. Be careful!

  2. Just one question or idea. It's to late now, but being that you built up the ground level, why not put a retaining wall on the side opposite of the main door so you can put your manure spreader there on the lower ground beneath a clean out door/window. This way you just use the tractor and push the manure straight out the window/door straight onto the spreader?

  3. Kudos for the venerable old tractor. No one needs one of those new fangled tractors chock fill of computers, cloud, and other nonsense that are purely designed to make you beholden to the manufacturer forever. Just say no.

  4. I’ve cleaned more stalls than I care to think about. If you put a bigger door on the west side. You could open it and drive your bucket loader all the way down the north wall and clean it out. Yip. No hand shoveling. I saw this big beams. I bet they were close to a hundred bucks each. I bought an 18 footer a couple years ago and it was 130 dollars during that damn pandemic. I enjoyed watching that old Farmall. Sure brought back some good memories. Later

  5. My son just bought a john deere 346 baler with a kicker. He bought it cheap but it was sitting outside and the plunger was stuck. We took a long hydraulic cylinder and hooked the hoses to the tractor and used the cylinder to push the plunger back. We oiled it all up and now it runs. hope it will tie. It has some fairly new knotters on it.

  6. Excellent Farmall H for sure Pete 😉 also my neighbor farmer had rebuild his last year and he was use this past Friday and running super too his 1945 ! Also building looking good so far to and animals to doing excellent too!

  7. I enjoyed this video immensely. The barn is coming along nicely….oh, but the pigs are growing so fast. Can’t wait til the barn is done, and pig area is finalized. Have a wonderful weekend. It’s Saturday night, and raining cats and dogs, here in Maine. We need the rain, it will lessen the fire danger. Had lots of wind lately, which dried everything. Blessings, Bev in Maine

  8. Enjoyed old episode describing your family history on your land thank you. You are a pleasant part of me and my husbands day. We will retire soon and maybe do a hobby farm. We admire your hard work . Thank you. May the good Lord bless you and your family , Richard and Doreen
