In this video I have a look at a customers GMC Envoy XL with the big 4.2 that came in with a complaint of, “MIL on and hard to start after it is warmed up.”
A quick test drive leads us right to the answer. It’s looking like a fuel delivery issue but we need to drop the tank and run a few more checks.
-Enjoy!

I'm really into rocketry, so it was a bit funny to me to see a car with trouble getting started described as having a "hard start" problem. With rocket engines, a hard start is when your combustion chamber blows up on ignition. Usually it's because your ignition timing is wrong and too much of the propellants are injected into the chamber before ignition starts. You end up with a small explosion that's too strong to be contained and blow your engine/vehicle apart.
How much would a diagnostic fee be for something like that ???
Wheel bearing screaming for help.
What you drinking? Booze haha.
What are your pros and cons of the thinktool scan tool?
One of the first things I was taught as a pup was how to properly re-pack wheel bearings with grease. This is a lost art, because we now live in a throw away- fill the landfill era. I keep saying: we are going backwards, people. Waaaay backwards. I can just imagine the WTF??? look on the faces of those in the future that dig up all our discarded crap. 😢
Like the Saskatchewan plate on the wall!
Massive lack of speed/power but a abundance of noise!
You have some good videos
Excellent tutorial – THOROUGH ! Much appreciated . Enjoy your day 👊🼠!
How do you like that scan tool vs an Autel?
Thanks for the tips. I always learn something from watching your channel. Keep them coming.
🌷🌷ðŸ‘
Another good diagnosis and video, thank you. I see you used the ThinkTool Pros. How do you like it?
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
No-one noticed the box of Federal .22 in the cab?
325 rounds of 22lr Federal on the passenger side, at one point would've paid for the diagnostic service 🤣
data stream kindda narrows down the problem
Awesome ðŸ‘
Eric, I had a similar situation with Dodge B350 Maxivans and the 360 TBI V-8. Everything checked fine but the engine would lay down when you hit 3rd gear it just wouldn’t pull. I ended up running a FP gauge under the engine cover and watching the pressure as I drove and sure enough first gear it was fine, second you could see the needle waver and at the top going into third it would start to drop down and that coincided with the laying over of the engine. A new fuel pump fixed the issue. And although it had the extended range fuel tank 30+ gallons, they were always kept full so the elec motors weren’t overheating.
The corn is looking better up that'a way than down here . We need the rain yer gettin
Your thoughts on the thinktool ?
I can’t wait to find out what’s going on😃
Great video Eric , stay safe !
Don't be weird
Erik. Awesome video ðŸ‘
You say "OEM" like it's not made in China
Yet another American vehicle that makes more noise than in relation to the output.
WAAAAAAAAAAA….CHEVY THUNDER!!!!!😂😂
Yet another American vehicle that makes more noise than in relation to the output.
WAAAAAAAAAAA….😂😂
those bearing sounds like a Cessna taxing on the runway
I'm just here for the passive-aggressive "CHEVY THUNDER".
Nothing wrong with being weird! If I was the new guy I’d be a sponge
Do we also see wheel bearing mayhem?
@13:15 I'm thinking : Amp clamp! Probably 2 amps, rather than 8 amps…?
@0:55 Looks like a GM scrapyard!😂
Wheel bearings so bad even I can hear them in the video!
What do you think about the ThinkTool ? Ivan’s go to…
Brand new Thinktool ProS. Ivan get to you?
really? people go crazy over the name tag? That is their take away form your very informational videos? I can honestly say the name tag has never got my attention. Admittedly some times I am just listening and then I hear you say Misses O….. now I am paying attention.
That’s $20 you just spit out in that pan
I know exactly what you mean with Phil.
I have recently started a channel and i feel stupid talking to myself in the garage when my neighbours are out in their garden 😂
Feeling stupid from the other side of the pond 🇬🇧
Excellent video as ever!
12:50 "What's up Mrs O" while you hope she doesn't notice you using her cake pan to catch fuel in. 😀
I keep waiting for a 4.3 bad counter balance shaft bearing causing misfires.
Why does the O2 sensor going to a low voltage when you give it the beans mean that the engine is running lean ?
How can you tell if a wheel bearing is going bad? Noise? Vibrations? Thanks
I had one that the output of the fuel line inside the tank was cracked so most of the pressure was go back in the tank
Always good to see Mrs. O
Boy with those wheel bearings it sounds like an airplane 🤣
I'm just starting the video. My guess is fuel pump needs replaced.
