In this video, I go over installing Windows 10 on Linux in Gnome Boxes. I highly recommend, Gnome Boxes as it is a very simple and intuitive setup process. For those just getting into virtualization on Linux, Gnome boxes is a great place to start.

  1. I love this it really fast make virtual machine, the oracle machine, really complex, and you must forward USB and that's a lot of work, and no just a ram you must define how much processor use if i remember correct, maybe now is different story, but box first hate it after love it and make it good/1

  2. even 2 years later this video still saved me. was trying to run a windows VM on pop os but couldn't get the shared folders to work. was struggling to transfer over a 50gb zip file to the box. worked perfectly. it doesn't really transfer it but I can transfer it by parts. does the job anyway. thanks once again

  3. Great video. I allways installed VMs in boxes but was unable to glue the OS with the host. Now regarding Spice, is it secure? because the web page is quite simple, what makes one think that it could have spyware or any other scam

  4. Dear Chris,

Thanks for such an informative video. I succeeded using Spice-Space WebDav and I was able to share a folder, from a SATA 4TB hard drive, to my Virtual Machine in Gnome Boxes. Also, I mapped the folder using Windows native mapping option in order to have access to the folder using a drive letter, z:, for example. However, the folder size matched exactly the amount of space (free and total) into my c: drive of the virtual machine. How do I adjust the maximum storage capacity of a folder shared with WebDav?

    Thanks.

  5. Chris, this looks great and I plan to do this, but …
It looks like I need a Windows 10 ISO. What is this, and where do I get one?
If I have Windows 10 running the way I like it on a different machine, or even on this machine, can I make a ISO image of what I have running and use that in my Boxes VM.
These are the details that I think I need to understand before I get started.
Or if Chris is busy does anybody else have the answers?
VMs are a bit of a mystery to me but I will be able to understand them if the whole process is explained somewhere.
    Thank you
    Michael
