Like most viewers, I grew up in a suburb and knew nothing about farming. I retired as an airline pilot, pretty exciting, but I always wanted to be a farmer instead. If I had seen these videos as a kid and learned farming from Pete, I'd have been a farmer. Being a farmer is natural work, and you learn a whole lot about a whole lot. And you can do a lot of things, and your kids grow up normal and know work and green things.
The ride on the C with the tedder was beautiful! We ran our tedder with an H, but one time, the only available tractor was our '48 A, so I used that and it worked just fine. I was a little bummed when you got out the round baler (I grew up with an absolutely ancient McCormick baler with an equally ancient Wisconsin engine), but you won me over when you said, "Good job, old baler." Thanks!

I grew up in a small farming community, just two elementary schools, one high school, and maybe 10 000 people. Lots of the farmers in the area had been 6-7 generations on the same land and had LOTS of old machinery they still used. Seeing similar machines on here is a treat. I do love them so much. The new big machines feel too corporate and impersonal. And it really doesn't help that you can't really tinker with them the way you can with the old machines. A farmer is 30% mechanic, after all.
I always say a farmer is 30% mechanic, 30% plant grower/animal tender, 30% business man, and 10% miracle worker.
