In a previous video https://youtu.be/RIRjwEgIwoo I had a look at a 2012 Ram 2500 with a few EVAP codes (P0456 and P0457) and the constant flashing of the “check fuel cap.” We found out that the ESIM switch was bad as well as the pigtail. Napa brought us a new one and it is time to find out if that is all of the issues or not.
-Enjoy!

  1. Can you fix that rust hole with JB Weld? As his system was “Jerry Rigged “ I know it’s not professional but it might remove the light on dash that looks like Bart Simpson jumping. I currently have the same issue on my 2017 Ram 2500….I had a dodge Dakota that had over 2 hundred thousand miles before it had the same issues. Once I replaced the gas cap it would turn of that light. It only lasted about 8K In miles. I never fully investigated the true problem but it made the wife happy if I had no dash lights. Secret is swapping gas caps if you know your driving date night. 😎

  2. There are times I've found that it is easier in the long run to fix a problem or problems you find and then continue testing. Rule out what you know is a problem that needed to be repaired regardless, then continue testing until you have found all of the problems. Sometimes you have no choice other than to fix a problem before you can continue testing. At least that has been my experience. Thank you for the video.

  3. You are one h*** of a good mechanic And I really enjoyed the way you diagnosed Sometimes just start somewhere and work your way down is the best way to go I wish you guys were closer to me you guys Would have my business Pat from Boise Idaho

  4. Great video!!! Hope you guys are doing well. Im trying to diagnose my 2015 ram with the gas cap issue my esim switch doesnt close, thanks to this video i found out! And have good vacuum Gonna keep looking for bad wires or something already replaced the esim and still the same

  5. I mighta stuff a grimble of JB Weld in that filler neck hole as 'proof' that the thing is the problem. I got a chuckle over the "don't melt down the blue butt splices"… Makes a fella wonder how many DIY types have burned their vehicles down tryin' to get those blue connectors to ooze out some adhesive! 😉

    Love the channel!!

  6. Most likely that is a factory filler neck. The rubber hoses are just longer versions of what the factory uses with a standard box. Adding length with hoses doesn't alter emissions compliance like designing a whole new filler neck would. If the bed manufacturer designed a new filler neck then they would have to foot the bill for compliance testing and certification.

  7. God body company I was a service manager at a large peterbilt dealer man brand new unit come in from the body company what a mess one came in from Canada at night sitting their thay must have jump out the stater took me a week to get it running

  8. Im sorry but if you don't realize that there are special connectors with the ability to shrink and seal…. maybe you're meddln in things you ought not be meddln in.

  9. Connectors are expensive because think about all the special injection molds they need to make all the different types of connectors on one car. The tooling is a huge cost even though they probably make millions of one connector they need to make a million of thousands of different styles

  10. If anyone cares to know this being a 2500 it would have been a pickup truck not a chassis cab. The fuel filler kit to go from the fuel tank to an aftermarket body is 68145496AA. The rusted metal filler neck is not sold as a separate part.

  11. Evening Eric, what are your thoughts on fixing the rust hole with something like JB Weld? I find it to be very useful. It may not be the Proper way, like replacing the damaged part, but it's probably faster and will outlast the vehicle. Maybe presenting it as an option to the customer? The Cheap fix vs the Proper fix? Seems it would be much easier than pulling all those cobbled parts apart. Thanks

  12. That truck aint gettin' no new filler neck. JB Weld and done or a little solder if you wanna get fancy and take the time to pull it off. 😂
