You heard it right folks, a 1993 Hinda Civic Del Sol that rolled in with a customer complaint of no turn signals. The customer was gonna wing a flasher at it but he seen it was $200 so he didn’t want to load the parts cannon. Now we need to see what the real issue is. -Enjoy!

  1. EXTREMELY helpful and GOOD video!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Just wish he would have shown the ACTUAL flasher relay AND location. Having a hard time locating my relay on my 94’ Civic CX. Del sol VERY similar to Civic on MAIN harness.

  2. I was towing my trailer and running my 4way flashers up.a.hill. on My 97 cherokee .After a short time, no.flasher no.signals. tried new flasher nope. Poked around saw there was no power into the harness my flasher plugged into. No blown fuses either. Anyway i stole power from the wire running my cb, and wired it into that block. !!!! No.idea where that wire fizzled away ! And im in pacific noeth west, not a rusty vehicle. !

  3. I love erics videos and i learn alot, on top of what i know…but good god it drives me insane when i hear "turning signals"…its TURN signal, not turning signal

  4. i am having the same issue with my sons 2008 civic, I just can not find the relay in the fuse box under hood or in the car.. any idea?

  5. i have a 96 cx (hatch) right turn signal stays on when the headlights are on. both signals work when headlights are off. i can’t fine the turn signal relay. someone help!?

  6. Give Eric a 2004 Chevy with a random misfire at 2375rpm and he would knock it out no problem. Give him a Honda Civic and he sounds like a new tech on his first day out of school. Not hating just pointing out the stuff he sees every day vs the stuff he never sees

  7. Leave it to Honda to over complicate something simple. I have a mid 80's liquid cooled lawn tractor and instead of simple relays for the safety stuff they used an Omron sealed module which is NLA. I came up with a circuit with discrete relays to "approximate" the module's operation. That diode in series with the turn signal switch is to isolate the battery 12v from the accessory 12v. You want the 4-ways to be available at all times in an emergency but the turn signals to be available only when the key is on. {That assumes someone uses their turn signals at all….}

  8. LOL. I just saw a Honda Civic in Wisconsin a couple days ago with COLLECTORS plates on it. Yes, genuine collectors plates. I immediately felt 20 years older than I am.

  9. I hate working on the floors of customers vehicle. It always smells like a truck stop urinal.
Ppl go into public washrooms with overflowed toilets and transfer that pee and god knows what else on the floors back into their vehicle. Where do you think they put their stinky shoes on?
I always put a piece of cardboard or plastic on the carpet before I start working on the inside of their cars.

  10. I own a 91 Sentra XE…I replaced the combination switch one time…it was not it…so…luckily I was able to return that $55.00 part…whew…!!! It ended up being the part that replaces the ceramic resistor…this car has an electronic part…(4 wires out the back end…fixed everything too…there was a fire under the hood @ 1 time and this part was singed…I had hired a young man fresh out of a small Tech College auto shop…he went through the same mental path I went through…crazy new stuff…I am used to 55-57 Chevy stuff…simple as a pimple!!!

  11. I drove a Del-Slow in 2000, I weighed 245lbs. and was 6'5" tall, it was a convertible top of some sort and my head was sticking out the top so much. It was not made for tall folks I can tell you that much.

  12. Wiring is super easy if you keep it simple it's only a nightmare when it gets in your head or you are fixing someone else's guesswork. Not saying you shouldn't try fixing things yourself, but if you fail make sure you can put it back to OEM.

  13. Turn signal on my 2000 Saturn SL1 quit working so using the owner's manual, I found the turn signal relay and changed it. No test lights or wiring diagrams and no testing of circuits.

  14. The more I watch you, the more I understand that you are a mechanic… and more. Back when I watched and worked with my Uncles fixing engines and tearing down motors, the electrical systems were so much simpler. Replacing a part was the fix. To fix some of todays cars, you almost have to be an electrical engineer to have a chance in running the problem to ground. Your comments about "people throwing parts at it " makes more and more sense. Thanks

  15. That dangling black box @6:30 is the bain of all 90's Civic/Integra owners existence. It starts crapping out then your damn car won't run or start when it gets hot. Ask me how I know.

  16. i miss the old cars with how simple they were. we used to change the little flasher relay under the dash so easy, it was just a little metal can that plugged into the fuse box. you popped it in and out in seconds, now they're all hidden and hard wired and mouned who knows where under there

  17. I wish you could have popped out the relay and do an Ivan "Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics" Russian no parts required repair. Yes, I am aware you and Ivan have collaborated in the past.

  18. Remember when cars were this simple? I'm pretty sure my current car requires going through at least three modules just to run the turn signals.

  19. The diode tells you that circuit can only work with positive coming in from the right or its bum, remember 'Positive on the ass means pass' on a diode.

  20. The video is incomplete without a visit from Mrs O. Sorry Eric, she just somehow makes your videos better….Great video though. I appreciate you!

  21. Hey Eric… Awesome video as always brother! Just wrapping up the Summer Semester with my students and hadn't seen your videos in quite some time just due to being so busy but wanted to check in once again. You know it never gets old.. every time I watch your videos I become intrigued and get that diagnostic/adventure vibe wanting to follow along and try to figure out the source of the issue along with what to do for repair. Hope you and the Fam are doing well and have a fantastic Del Sol Week! 😁🚙☀🚘🛻👍

  22. You sounded like Kamala Harris. "We want to see what we need to see. And what we need to see, we see every day. And THAT is what needs to be seen.". ERIC O FOR PRES!!!
