In this video I have a look at this 2018 Honda Civic with the big 2.0 that was dropped off from another shop with an engine light on and a P0340 and a P0344 that won’t go away. The shop replaced both cam sensors and the code came right back. At this point they asked me to have a look and see what we can do.
-Enjoy!

Nice job keep it up
You keep saying you don't know everything, but dam if you don't fix a lot, keep up the great work.
great vid eric, you the man… 😸
I know you hate doing resistance check by believing it is not a reliable way to find trouble wire. However this prove the exact opposite. You would have found it just doing a simple resistance check between the cam connector and PCM.
Thanks so much for your video. I find it really helpful and enjoyed by me
Christopher Downs
my friend had a honda with the same issue they were 2 different sensors one for intake side one for exhaust side replaced them car ran worse gave up went and bought something else that ended up with other issues but were more mechanical in nature and easily fixed albeit still a pain in the rear
Eric you do a very good job every time. Thanks.
Almost all automotive issues are mechanical issues – including electrical ones.
How do you know what size fitment gauge to use?
Anybody recommend the t7 icon for entry level?
Or would 400 be better spent on another?
You da man Mr. O !
All this time, all this technology, and still we rely on vacumm. What a mix. Love watching your channel. You have filled the "vacumm" for me left from "Click and Clack" 😅
I really liked this video. It was very helpful as in working on a 17 civic with similar issue. Your short mention of products, description, and thoughts on them was perfect. Not to long but honest info. Thank you sir!!!
I dont understand for a second why anyone that lives within an hour or so from Avoca NY would have anyone but Eric do ANYTHING on their vehicle. I'm 78, and I do mostly all my own work, and have done for about 60 years, but I wouldn't if I was anywhere near him.
Just a thought , if you had used a loaded test flight to verify the three wires of the harness it should have showed up as a dim or no light. Yes you would have to provide a external fused power supply but is that really all that big a deal? Love the videos and that you are showing real world real time diag.
Car whisperer in his natural habitat doing what he does best good diag Eric o
Gonna “cut it on” like they say in the south
Good video. Great find.
Would you consider moving to Tennessee?
I will not delete my comment because you did an awesome job.
Always wondered how reliable those probes were
I think you demonstrated a splendid dynostc exposure to the faults 😊
What a schnoz!!!
Haven't seen or heard Luna in a while, she is probably staying in the office with Mrs. O. where it is warm and dry. You never know what the cause of the problem is, you have to check every possibility of what you think it might be. Good find Eric Holmes, another HAPPY customer that will sing praises of SMA of PRNY success !!!! A new dress for Mrs. O. !!! 💃👗
I appreciate that you stay focused and never give up. thanks.
Boy, this is exciting stuff!
Good day sir I am all the way in the caribbean I have a brakes problem my brakes get hard while I driving and I install a new master cylinder
10 minutes… folks, always wiggle those wires while looking at the scope… the guys at the shop probably yanked at the wires, someone did, and the japs did use thin shhtty copper inside…just to save another cent, shameful thin coppers i see in lots of cars now, scary.
Impressive troubleshooting! Way to hang in there!
Another awesome repair
Man harbor freight is good 👍 to you I just bought one I like it so far diagramming is awesome 👏
Maybe the Honda ohm test wouldn’t have been so bad on that one…
Awesome thank you
Wanna move to ky? You can live with us.
Not sure of the mileage BUT at 100,000 miles there is a valve clearance adjustment to be performed on the 2.0L & it requires the removal of the intake, various harnesses & resealing it.
I'm wondering if a dealership has been into it 🤔
I had a cam position sensor fail with heat.
You are the best. Why don't you move to California, Sacramento area, and be your best customer.
You are the BEST AUTO TECHNICIAN IVE EVER SEEN !!!! ❤
No intake Cam sensor signal, so why isn't the engine shaking?
Maybe the camshaft is not turning 😂 I’m dead
I am always yearnin to learn. Im 70 and still wanting to learn.
Id rather do my own repairs than take it to a shop and complain.
I ask people.
How do you know its a bad coil or sensor?
O…i got it diagnosis by the parts place.
Ok…how did they determine its a bad coil? Did they remove it and tested it?
O…they scanned it for codes and they said its bad.
U huh…but you are going to throw $300.00 plus tax at a set of coils.
What are you going to do if that doesn't work?
Hmm…i will tell them they sold me a set of bad coils..
Ok…and how are you going to determine that?
