  1. I remember Rainmeter from the XP days iirc… I had a whole bunch of instrument dials for cpu temperatures, voltages, ram and cpu use, etc. Eventually I closed down most of the widgets and just used this clock that rendered as rings like in Battlestar Galactica. I modified it to use 24h time. It slapped.

  2. It would be better if there was no install. A portable version instead of winget where you have no idea what happened and to use it on another machine, you have to install it there also.

  3. what irritates me more than anything is how these youtube video clowns drag out their video to either 15, 20, or 30 minutes, with their casual laid back gas passing, all of which could be accomplished in less than 5 minutes. Talking incessantly about nothing, not thinking that the people watching this program, have lost that 20 minutes. Not to mention, have to watch other videos to make sure this is the right choice. I'm really hating youtube clowns, burning my life away spending my valued time that could be used elsewhere, watching a bunch of riff raff trying to get answers. Starting to realize it's just so much better to have a technician do the work so I can do what I really want. 5 minutes in, while I was typing this, and he's still flapping about "skins". What a waste of space and time.

  4. Rainmeter is getting a bit dated now, but I still use it to out a Google search box on my desktop. One major limitation that annoys me is the inability to drag files to folders in Rainmeter docks. Plain old Windows desktop folders are more useful!

  5. I have dabbled in Rainmeter a bit. But my widget engine of choice is XWidget, mainly because the widgets I develop have code to enhance their function and XWidget uses JavaScript for that; Rainmeter can use Lua, but I don't know that, so I stick to the language I know.
When I was dabbling with Rainmeter, I chatted to some of the other developers, and they hated Rainmeter components being called widgets, "They're not Widgets, they are Skins!" 😁Ooops…

  6. Why everyone wants "CLEAN" desktop?
What's the point of having a picture frame instead of usable desktop space for shortcuts and programs you actually use?
It's like those minimalist people who live in empty apartments, because it's "aesthetically pleasing" 😂

  7. How does someone have several clocks? I have teams working in Portugal, Denmark, India, Shanghai and the Philippines. Does rainmeter only support the desktop display of the local time?
