In this video I show you how to “Super Clean Your Headlights!” This process will remove the dingy, cloudy, hazed over, outside layer of the plastic lens. Then I share with you the clear coat that I use to leave a lasting shine and protect them from the elements. -Enjoy!

One question, why didn’t you do clear coat in the video and show the end result ? It would have been nice to see the end results ðŸ‘🇨🇦
I did mine using toothpaste and 15min of "wax on, wax off".
As always, I enjoy your show and it was so good to see Hanna again. Thank you Big O for what is a good youtube cast we can watch and enjoy.
I use toothpaste and a buffing wheel. Just like for polishing the body w/ buffing compound.
Sylvania is the only one with a one year warranty. I got one warranty once. Then next time it was like two months past after the year. Best vision with halogens. Nice system. I'll look into safety clear.
Hey Eric, are there part #'s for the #1 & #2 RC? Tia
One tip on wet sanding. Add a bit of soap to the water. Just a little. It helps the process.
How cool!! Man that came out good!
I have done 7 pair of headlights with the 3M kit. Works great. Also want to say that every headlight assembly I have seen with moisture inside can be saved by opening up the drain holes because they get plugged. Might have to seal a leak also. Dealer wanted almost $2500 to replace the headlights on my BMW. I drained them and dried them out and cleaned the lens and they are going strong 3 years later and counting.
Polishing is a temporary fix you will need to keep polishing them regularly depending on how sunny your environment . The better fix is to finish them in 1000 grit and spray some clearcoat on them.
This was quite enlightening.
Thanks for the tips great idea
I bought new ones from rock. $ 45 each
Very Nice !
Very nice video. I just ordered some of the SafeTclear clear coat and a few other things off of their website. Can't wait to try it out.
Head light man keep me clear and sparkly
Thanks for the information
Like a fish tank😂
scotty the best headlight cleaner is mother's mag & Aluminum polish.
Thanks for another great video. I run timber harvesting equipment with Lexan windows 1-1/2â€â€ thick that cost a fortune to replace. Well worth it when shit starts blowing up but still… Ive used Plexus polish with a cloth, not paper for years to put a protective layer on them AFTER cleaning them. Plexus has kinda disappeared, now using Somner 210, cheaper and available, similar. I recommend the product, use it on my service truck headlights and my wife’s car headlights and my safety glasses too… thanks for the video, going to give the polishing a try ‘cause after 7 years and 10K plus hours I’ve got some tiny pitting on the front window from small partical impact off the saw that I’d like to buff out.
That looks like new.😊
Looks gr8 now
I haven't gotten a notification for your channel for quite a few years now and I finally found it again. I live in Missouri and I've done some of the things you've shown on here. Just not electrical, because I don't have the money for the scanner computer( I believe it's an alltell). Missed watching you work on stuff others shops give up on. I'm one of those that believe if you have a torch and a welder, you can fix anything permanently. Improvise, overcome, fix.
Excellent thanks
you've been photo bombed eric😂
You have to wipe the haze off with 100% DEET bug dope before they get bad.
Here we are years later lol. Question,SafeTClear says to stop at 2000 grit and apply their product (so there will be something for it to “gripâ€). Do you think that is necessary?
You’re a GOOD DADâ¤ï¸ðŸ‘
You may like those light bulbs, but everybody that's driving towards you hate them
Just refinished my headlights following this video. They turned out great! Thanks Eric O!
Excellent video
Automotive industry needs to be forced to use better plastic
Bug spray and it has to have deet
Always glad to see you take good care of Hannah and Marie.
And great that you have taught them lots.
Always good when "The Youth" learn how to take care of their vehicles.
And especially when the Young Females learn
Just wanted to drop in an say that this is DEFINITELY the right way to do it! I use a Meguiars Keep Clear Headlight Coating, and it's been several years of nothing but crystal clear lights.
That said, I just looked up the price of those Slyvania bulbs, and they're $32 a bulb!! FML, that's pricey
best to sand all the cracks out, 400 grit is fine, if they are real bad start with 220, water sand them then 3 coats of duplicolor clear ceramic engine paint, they come out clear and last for years, if you polish them they will look good but it does not last long
Me spray max// primer and 2k top coat.. push button bottom can to activate spray. No shelf life … pros use.. My rolla more then 3 years now perfectly clear.. Mostly in the sun san jose ca,, I remove headlights to do it. even had to pull front end off..worth it to do on a table.. a bit of work.. ITS ALso used as a top coat for car paint.. pros use it for small jobs.. diffo sheens..
would like to know hat make/model air angle sander you use…
looks good now but in a year from now it will be yellow i don't care what u use
I realize this is a 4 year old video, but Scotty is correct, in that you are not supposed to use regular, paint clear coat on headlights. The only type that should be used is the type that you have in this video. It is specially formulated to not only adhere to Lexan, but also to be molecularly clear so that the light passes through it and is not distorted, like the spray on paint type that you see other idiots use. The spray on/paint type of clear coat is not really all that clear, and actually puts a hazy film on the lenses.
Praise God for a good dad. Thank you, Mr. O.
I never have never clear coated them after doing this, I tell customers to use a good wax polish on them regularly for uv protection, never had to do them a 2nd time, YET LOL
