You should do this with no car lift and no tran jack laying on a craper with a floor jack
When you did that flex plate late, thats how i did a clutch job on my 2002 SS camaro using a single post in ground lift

I like the solution you came up with to install the exhaust maybe Perhaps next time you could use 2 nuts to jam against each other to screw in the studs in another instance.

I replaced many transmissions in GM trucks and learned years ago to heat each exhaust flange nut red hot before attempting removal, especially up here in Wisconsin or the studs WILL break.
Helpful tip! On gm flex plates there is an alignment hole, usually will have a pink dot net to it. It will be slightly ovaled. you can fully install and tighten the bolt so the engine does not have to be rotated so much! Hope this helps!
The C6 has 4, the FMX does as well. Pro tip, their flex plates may look identical. But are not, you will burn up the pump if you mistake a C6 one for an FMX one. Ask me how I know.
Understand now what thise tree bolts hold on, so the whole power of the motor(engine) goes true these 3 bolts to turn the gearbox!
That torque wrench would drive me crazy…
