It's a shame this little engine destroyed itself! What do y'all thing about the abundance of damage? Do you think it was preventable? I DO! Clean engines are happy engines. Keep your engine clean with regular oil changes and use an oil and fuel additive every now and then. Have an induction service done every 30,000 miles on DI engines. Like I said in the video, if you would like any Amsoil products, please use my like here: https://www.amsoil.com/?zo=30606222 and/or Email me at RainmanAppointments@gmail.com for BG products. (I Can't retail those brands at RainmanAuto.com ) Thanks for Watching!
Always pay extra for OEM .. CHINA NO BUENO… people don't do any prevention maintenance..saves you a ton in the long run…vehicles used to be functional for at least 200, 000…Real cars need to be built with no aluminum or plastic or computer interface… the design of a car is supposed to run for a very long time… those days are gone
Big money repair in order to squeeze out a little more gas mileage. I'll keep my old engine and pay an extra 5-10 bucks a week more for gas.
Excellent video
I think since after Covid, Vehicles are terrible now days!!!!
So how often do these products need to be used?
Your message as it relates to violent acts against people just because of their opinion, is spot on.
And Thank You , stressing that we are all human beings. We need to get to where we were 40 or 50 years ago. Back then we could agree to disagree, for the most part.
Now, people, especially women are acting crazy. Most of the people yelling ugly things are universities and in political campaigns are women. It’s crazy!!
Regards from another human being.
Piston metal failure! Holy. Cow.
Making cars disposable doesn’t help the environment.
The thing I think would help the Situation is Changing the oil at 4000 miles and using tranny fluid in with the oil to slow the carbon build up. That being said – also have a catch a can for the oil vapour to minimise carbon build up on the valves. So . Ray does that agree with you or am I wrong here ….
Mmmmmmm 80/20 me thinks not wrong… Please comment ant let me see your thoughts…
Why you remove your trump vid
I have a MAC smoke machine that has a leakdown gauge on it. Very mice feature.
And now add the fact that most brands program clusters to chime in every 10k miles. Most pple will not worry about it till its well past due. And now go on a used car lot and buyt a used vehicle with less than 50k miles… its only had 4 oil changes if its lucky… set up for failure
Hi Ray, love your videos. Can you show us one of he pistons after a night of soaking in the cleaner you recommend?
This is why I am running Valvoline Restore and Protect. Hard to know for sure, but I have seen plenty of what I consider legit testers from websites inform us that it actually works. I think it is worth a try on my Hyundai G.D.I. engine.
I would like to know what you think and maybe see if one day, you do a video on a customers car after running it for 4-5 oil changes.
My engine has both mpi and direct injection. Does that help at all?
This is an America problem, Canada has much higher standards on their motor oils and fuel.
Just had to replace the high pressure fuel pump on my Camaro. When it failed I am guessing it dumped garbage into the injectors. Swapped them out. Also dumped gas directly into the oil. Got a free engine cleaning out of it due to the gas in the oil.
Every time I see an open deck block like that, I realize that not using a torque plate while machining the cylinders will eventually mean 80K mile head gasket replacement. Hence, no torque plate manufacturing results in planned obsolescence in our world.
Dephi-Knutt those direkt injektor Vee-Hikulls aré bé ë Terry-Bhull
Pontiac Solstice GXP 2.0L Turbocharged w/Intercooler. Putting out around 300HP. Always used Mobil1 5W30 because it is on the fill cap. Going to have to change up what and how I do maintenance!
Excellent presentation.
The lackadaisical attitude towards engine maintenance does not work in today’s engines.
In the past, one could get away with it somewhat, and end up with a sludged up engine with no catastrophic failure for the most part.
Ray, you are correct, that the new car buyer has to be educated about the new maintenance regimen, but alas it’sgoing to fall on deaf ears, and keep you in business.
One more thing, it’s “ The proof of the pudding is in the tastingâ€.
Everyone says this wrong.
Your meaning was clear however.
Peter😊
When looking for smoke, use a laser. It shows the smoke as a very visible rod.
Hey Ray love your videos. Do you think these cleaners will help my 01 Silverado with 4.8l with 240000 mi.
Amsoil engine flush works great.
A simple blow by test you would have found this early. While it's running pull the oil cap and look at the pressure coming out of the engine. The cost of all that work you could have just put another engine in it.
Ray, are you sure you're not looking at low speed preignition damage? That destroyed ring land damage you are showing is why GM specs dexos oils. The wrong calcium levels in the oil will cause low speed preignition that causes ring land damage. Check out the oil geek – mr. lake speed.
Amsoil interior cleaner, will that make my pistons shiny? 😜
Just as bad as going to the dealer
This is why I always use Shell V-Power. Using cheaper fuels is a false economy. Not only does help to stop this scenario, you get better fuel economy which off-sets the extra cost of the fuel.
LSPI. Wrong oil, bad maintenance and bd driving habits causes this.
If you maintain your vehicle properly, this stuff is never needed, but so many do not, and that means these chemicals have their place. I commuted for a living for years and had 5 VW’s between 200,000-450,000, Kia soul 175,000, Kia Spectra 350,000, Mitsubishi Mighty Max 300,000. If you treat your cars right, they will treat you right.
Maybe just a egr cachcan
One of the main reasons I do not like direct injection petrol engines. Most cars are driven relatively quietly around town and they are the sort of vehicle that this problem occurs in. I also dislike the design of most modern systems… engine and computer system…, as they are left open to failure almost by design.
Ray, does the port injection need the snake oil or just maybe kinda good for it, specific 2.9 vortec and also have 6 liter vortec too…
All that varnish might suggest they have either over-run their oil change interval or used cheap mineral oils instead of a decent synthetic. I suspect had their oil change routine been better this might have not been so bad. Some additives are well worth their weight in gold though.
How did you remove a piston without draining the sump?
same equipment and basic principles I use to test plumbing in a house.
Choose the right tool for the job. As an example, I have a Lexus V8 with direct and port injection engine and do oil changes every 3k-4k miles. The engine does not have a turbo and probably wouldn't benefit from the additive. If you have a turbo, especially on a small displacement high power engine it makes sense
