It took half my life, but I’ve found the secret to happiness. It boils down to some simple things: Realizing that no one else is responsible for your happiness, living below your means, finding one true friend, understanding whether you are in the right vocation, and understanding when to let go of control.

Good advice.
Best advice I've ever heard 💯
I love watching your videos. I just started watching a month ago. I couldn't help but to share my real joy in Christ alone. If you don't know Christ as your Lord and Savior, I hope that one day you will. Your such a kind man full of wisdom. Thanks for sharing.
WOW!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING
Very encouraging words thank u Pete for sharing
The secret to happiness is being born again, John. 3-16
Right on Pete, Amen
Your are right, I think, but as I understand it you me need some leverage, some assistance. Are you of Scandinavian origin?
Less is more, common sense is not so common… Anymore
thank you
5:52 … this one has not aged well 😀
Pete the chef ! Love it.
Hi. I retired twice and since I left the highly competitive jobs, I like to do things for my friends and neighbors who need help. Helping others makes my life more complete. You are on the right track.
I usually never really comment on anything but this video is absolutely amazing and I was listening you without even blinking once, well said Pete and thank you for your efforts to make videos like this
I guess we will never know how those ribs turned out 😢😂
A farmer's wisdom – Unhappy and agitated and don't know why? – Your advice will certainly help. Incredible how much we can accomplish when our minds are clear of the unimportant and things that trigger insecurity and fear. I particularly agree with being able to discover and regain control of yourself. Seriously good advice. Thanks Pete
I'm new to your channel Pete, but I've been bingeing all week. I have a similar life trajectory I was 20 years an engineer and eventually a business owner/workaholic on his way to an early death. At 42 I chucked it all and became a high school science teacher and after 22 years of teaching (a job that I loved) I retired last May. This video specifically and your channel in general encapsulate many of the strategies and concepts that led me to a much happier and fulfilling life. My 25 y.o. son is just starting out and I have highly recommended your channel and this video in particular to him. Much of what you have to say he's heard from me for years, but it helps to hear it from a disinterested 3rd party I think. Thanks for being a fount of positivity and wisdom. I'm a fan!
You make me smile.Thank you
Great Philosophy smart man.
That is one smart man!! I am 75 and what he says is so true!
Thank you so much Pete for your message today I think it was awesome I too believe if you're not happy with something move on I've always heard that thank you so much and I love your videos my boyfriend got me watching you
I have always made do with what I have, never cared about money as long as I had a roof over my family head, food on the table. I buy a car and run the wheel off before I buy another. I am the one who hates to shop. My dauther says I do for every one easl before I do for myself. I am retried now and watch you tube channel and others like yours, don't watch the new or TV and can't stand talk show and the radio. I read my Bible and listen to sermons and read other books to. Like to pick up a Book and read. I was a cook most of my life and I enjoyed it, and worked with wood in my spare time. God Bless you and yours.
You are so right tuning out and look at the positive in yourself you're so right Mrs Martin
Behold a true man, and a true philosopher! Peter, I LOVE your channel! I read the article you showed us in one of your videos on how you restored the farm house. I hit pause and read it on the video. That's how I knew you used to be an architect! My respect for you and your family grows more and more with every new video I watch. Lots of blessings and a long, happy life is what I wish for your. Greetings from Mexico City!

Absolutely brilliant! Wonderful explanation of the wisdom and truth for happiness! Farm psychology has benefits beyond belief! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience!
i was able to retire a 3 years ago at 59 working in something you can't stand to do is a real grind but i did it. that was the hardest part of my life i now live in the Philippines where their is no snow while living here has brought me such peace .:) watching your channel on my 55 inch 4 k smart tv
I'm a stay-at-home dad. I worked at a place I was
sureI would retire from. Could wear what I wanted, flexible hours, tons of perks piled onto the job. What I ended up finding out that even being around good people, many perks, opportunity for great pay, and other good things to say about the company, none of that mattered because I didn't believe in the product. I separated my true self and feelings so much from what I was doing I think it made me think in a more nihilistic manner (if I'm not doing it someone else will, at the end of they day they are adults and can make their own decisions, these bad things are going to continue whether I contribute to them or not, the list goes on). What bothers me to this day is how I lied to myself about liking a job out of fear and anxiety. My feelings towards work have altered a ton since leaving my job and becoming a stay-at-home parent, as have my opinions on our country and especially patriotism. We are buying a house and 20 acres and I have a feeling I will revisit this video every so often to refresh. Thank!Wow, I am greatful for you sharing with us your story and your complete honesty. If you ever get tired of farming, motivational/inspirational speaking is your gift for sure.
I so agree with everything you said. We'd love for my husband to be able to quit his job and farm full-time but we have a special needs son and absolutely have to have the amazing health insurance my husband's company pays for. So for now. We find balance.
Thank you Pete. I’m 42 and dealt with anger/depression issues my whole life left by an abusive father. I appreciate your work and words. We all do.
Ahoy, how long do the ribs stay in the BBQ and when do you wrap them in foil? Love to know. My wife wants me to cook them this weekend. Of course here in Australia we have the best beef.
Hi Pete, I just wanted to thank you for writing your book. I have just about finished it-in addition to a whole slough of books on sheep nutrition, disease and pasture management. I can't get started planting any pasture started until next Spring (2023) due to an existing lease agreement but I'm feeling more confident by the day that I can make it happen on a small portion of the farm to start with. Right now, I'm working to earn money to repair the old barn roof-I decided that the barn needs to stay since it was constructed by my grandparents and is a defining feature of the farm that my family has called home since 1930. You and I are the same age and I am an architect. I am a sole practitioner so I am able to pick and choose the jobs that I take. I plan on continuing to do some architectural work since I need to fund my startup costs and my wife needs to keep working to maintain our health insurance. This weekend I need to need to fix an ignition problem on the loader tractor so that I can continue my cleanup projects. One foot in front of the other.
Pete..you've heard this 1000s of times. You are an inspiration to anyone that is lucky enough to HEAR you. I love your channel, your jokes and your wisdom and your farm. ( And your family)
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. Thank you for sharing your journey and the work that you do.
CONGRATULATIONS PETE, YOU DID THE RIGHT THING I WOULD DO THE SAME IF I HAVE THE SAME WEALTH AROUND YOU, A LOVING WIFE, YOUR KIDS, YOUR HOGS, CATTLE, CHICKENS., TRACTORS, AND ACRES OF FARMLANDS THAT IS HEAVEN. I AM SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL BY ACCIDENT AND I FALL IN LOVE WITH IT SINCE. THANK YOU FOR SHARING
I really love this, love you channel, love your lifestyle… 😊
I know what you mean. I went through a similar experience but learned a lot from it. Now I also farm but I am not a farmer.
My man Pete.
This is why I love your channel.
Thanks Pete
Fantastic Pete , this particular video has done a lot for me . # Thank you
