This is great. I am about to replace that broken plastic side part on my Commander’s drivers seat. Thanks to you now I know how everything is connected on the inside. That takes the guesswork out of it. Thanks SMA. â¤
Great video, thanks for the making it, I will be replacing my trim pice that broke…
The ole classic reach around😂
From Wayland someday I'll run into you there
very cool i grew up in hammondsport
Man fall in the NE is incredible. I live in the deep South and our autumns aren't nearly as pretty.
You'll be hard pressed to find a greener place in the spring and summer though, that's where we really shine.
What the flip ! 😆
If you could not find a replacement plastic shroud, it is possible to repair the one in the vehicle. The approach is called plastic welding.
To strengthen and repair the cracks you melt a cut to fit SS wire mesh into the plastic using a temperature controlled iron (like a soldering iron but with special attachments). Then you use a plastic filler to fully cover the mesh and create strengthening fillets as needed. For cosmetic purposes you can sand the repair smooth from the front, prime and paint if you would like.
If the plastic repair is hidden (like on mounting ears) you can weld and fill wire mesh on both sides of the crack for a very strong repair. Much stronger than using epoxy or JB weld. If you have room you can put a very large fillet on an inside bend and dramatically improve the joint strength. On old cars when I damage plastic mounting points, I plastic weld instead of trying to find a new plastic panel.
Plastic welding repair is also fun in an arts and crafts kind of way. Maybe, Ms. O would like to give it a try. You could also teach kids how to do it. You could pick up plenty of plastic practice pieces at the junk yard. Once you get proficient at it, you can repair very quickly.
I would have just tie wrapped the switch module in place for a temporary fix.
Thanks, Eric, for showing me which repairs I can do, and which ones I shouldn't even try.
I love the way Eric dotes over these automotive cadavers like they were Aston-Martins in the showroom, just out of the factory.
Excellent viewing ! Always good work. Really like learning new tricks ! The tape trick on the screwdriver is awesome Mr O !!!
Thanks a million for the videos !!
Yon breakers yard looks just as cold and dark as ours.
Here they call the part of the seat yor backside goes on a squab.
My dad inherited a 85 Omni when my grandpa passed. My dad drove that thing into the 2000s, years after my stepmom filled the crankcase with water and tried to start it. She thought it was the radiator.
Love how you always go the extra mile for your customers. Mechanics who aren't all about the bottom dollar are rare, and I'd be honored to have you fix my car. Thanks for the great videos!
ha. my dad had an ol dodge omni too.
Great video Eric, the seat trim parts
are sharp as a razor blade sometimes, I got cut a few times back in my Dealership days, and it
was always those early 2000s
LeSabre seats, LOL!!!
You know at the end of the videos that saying if I can do it you can do it is so true. You just have too do it and learn
Brilliant video as always but I have a question, was there any particular reason why you needed to cut all the wires rather than just removing the two wires from the old connector? Not a criticism just an observation. Again brilliant videos, so informative and great to see people fixing parts and not just replacing. Massive respect and appreciation for all your videos keep up the good work SMA ðŸ‘
Yes, it is really strong stuff. Try using it on your hammers up by the hammerhead. It works great for absorbing missed hits.
IT'S GOT THA LEATHA
“Just Like Geico  lol, the irony, the video was 15 minutes too.

I couldn't find a comment about Ronnie FInger's Fiero restoration, have you watched that series?
The mouse left his bed unmade.
Noice … Wilbert's episodes are the best episodes … saving the customer money and exploring automotive history.
Here I thought everyone knows the screws all ho in the cup holder…when doing these type of repairs diy…that way if/when a real Tech needs to clean up for you they have all the hardware to edu-guess where it goes…😎
