In this video I have a quick look at a Lincoln town car that customer states the gas door will not open. Well, he’s right, but what the heck are we fixing a wire near the radiator for then!? -Enjoy!

  1. Mr.O I'm learning more about diagnosis I just need service data but im a diy so I am only going to get it for one car that I own but thank you for teaching me that was a great diagnosis and learning session

  2. Eric, My 92 C/V had a no start, no one could figure out . The car was old and I was ready to
junk it. I went looking for a replacement. The guy ran cabs and sold used C/V's too.
He told me to look above the front bumper reinforcement, to the left of the radiator {when facing the car} . I took the bumper cover off ,opened the harness . There were four broken wires. I fixed the wires and the car started right up. P.S., The gas door did not work before
but low and behold it worked after I fixed those wires.

  3. They got a good deal as you also fixed the lumbar feature on the seats. A dealer would have replaced the whole harness which as you know would be $$$$$$$

  4. YOU HAVE JUST EXPLAINED WHY NEW YORK FOLK MOVE TO FLORIDA.THE FUNNY THING IS THE RUST AND CORROSION ACCELERATE WHEN THE HEAT/HUMIDITY FROM FLORIDA(PLAN ON NEW CARS WHEN YALL GET HERE)

  5. Crusty reminded me of our1995 Ford conversion van, NEW battery kept dying, alternator not "sending" charge to it. Factory service manual(paper) was used to find that Ford ran the voltage sense wire right next to the battery tray(driver's side IIRC) and over time it was quite crusty and ended up opening. Did the solder/shrink/seal repair but fortunately not inside of a harness or tight area. Thanks for the fuel door circuit tracing, I'll have to glance at that area the Lincoln TC here next time under it.

  6. Amusing thought:

My parents had the '05 TownCar, almost identical to this one (probably same colour). Seeing the deer meat reminded me of the time they got into a fight with a deer (hit one on the highway). It was a tie. They were able to drive it home (still $3,000 damage of course), and I believe the deer popped up and ran for the ditch..

  7. Nice job.
I can remember the gas tank filler tube being behind the license plate, and some of that earlier truck being in the cab behind the seat back.
Man am I getting old. lmbo
