Well, this is weird… what kind of madman would put Metro UI and Cortana in this thing? Let’s run some Windows setup programs on this.

  1. We are very aware of this distro here in Brasil. The developer has this parking camera system that is also very good (a friend of mine uses it at his company). You can read in his website that the distro is aimed to make it easier for small business to adopt Linux and save on costs of software and hardware, but the development stopped because we don't have a digital signature certificate (made by gov) that runs smoothly in GNU/Linux systems and it's a big wall to generate invoices and other State taxes… Brasil was once, during the rule of Workers Party, an example of Open Source software adoption, but just after the coup d'etat in 2016 the first thing they did (even before taking our oil recent findings) was to move all the Federal gov software to Microsoft, so it became easier to spy us…

  2. Did not plainly state what you installed? Did you do this install on an existing Windows computer? How do you start from an existing Windows 10 computer if you did not want to be switched to Windows 11.

  3. wait what??? I want to install linux that feels like windows because I hate all the unwanted pre-installed crap in windows like zoom and skype and now you tell me this comes with exactly these already installed???

  4. There's the 100%free Macrohard Windux 7 that looks exactly like the good old Windows 7 but is based on Linux Mint, it also comes with Microsoft Office 2007 with an enhanced version of Wine that supports more libraries and a better UI.

  5. I don’t see why anyone would want to go from Windows…. to Windows. I get the new user thing, but in my experience most Linux desktops are just as easy as Windows or macOS. How hard is it to click a start button and go through a menu of software? How difficult is it to go through a software “store” for applications which you do every day on your phones?

I’m a total noob and could figuare this all out within 10 minutes of install. Oh, there’s the start menu, oh there’s a browser, umm email, an office suite? Cool.

Are we as a people so spoonfed now that we lack any common sense or intelligence anymore? I constantly see YT vids about “easy” or “hard” distros. Fact is that most of them work the same way with the same setups and except for WMs they all look like windows. Linux is not Windows but the desktop environment makes it just as easy.

  6. note: old ms office will work, 2008 and older at least will, beyond that, good f-ing luck with that…. if you get it fully working, let the community know how… because damn…

i mean without just running a windows VM…

to me Solus is so windows like that my father even liked it… thought it was just a windows update that was alot faster on his system..

  7. This is just a distro designed for transferring users who are used to the good and bad of windows, from everything you do on windows into a distro. And if you look at it like that it's a pretty decent distro for that exact purpose.

  8. I don't give a s**t about Linux or Microsoft. Were I an entrepreneur I'd give the creator of windowsfx a s**tload of money to see what he'd create. Just about everybody who comments on Windowsfx picks some silly tribal point about what it can't do or can do. Here's a thought – would you employ this programs creator, if you could? In my view I think lots of you would be interested in his ideas.

  9. When windows 10 expires, my mother is going to have to switch to Linux as windows 11 is too demanding. I was thinking either Zorin, Elementary, or this

  10. If I put this on my fathers desktop and told him it was Windows he would probably use it for years and not notice until he called Microsoft for support. 🤣
