6. This podcast with two of the best legal minds left in America, that still instills a sense of integrity and honesty, leaves me with a glimmer of hope that democracy is not yet dead. We have looked at the US for guidance, me personally for more than 20 years now, and it is frightening to witness what is happening in the world today, because of Trump.

   I can only hope, trust and believe that the voices of reason, integrity, honesty and decency will prevail in the end, else the future looks bleak, with the Communist block gaining momentum.

   Watching the systematic deconstruction of the democratic principles that stood for hundreds of years, and engraved in the constitution of America for centuries, by a convicted rapist, conman and liar.

   I am not American, I am a resident of a "Sh*thole country", South Africa, your president's own words. What possible grain of hope do I have battling the corruption and state capture in my own country?

   And Trump is just handing it all the communist party on a plate. I bet Putin is having a good laugh right now. He achieved what he set out 10 years ago. Get your act together America, the rest of the world is tiring of the clown act in the Oval Office! I for one am looking at the EU for guidance right now.

8. I am an overseas viewer and have to say that from the outside looking in the reason why the Democratic party is in the gutter is because of, I am afraid to say, voices like Karen. Ways and ideas of the past have to go because otherwise the America that Karen loves will no longer be. The populace wants fighters not billionaire and AIPAC funded Democrats who are weak, indecisive and play by rules from another era. Democrats like Slotkin, Jefferies and Schumer need to step aside, they are not made for the moment. I believe that many Republicans and the Democratic base will turn out for fighters like Crockett, Frost, AOC and the great Independent Bernie. Let's face it the Democratic establishment, like Jeffries, because of their big funders won't even support Mamdani. It is the fighters like Mamdani that will save your Democratic Republic and if the establishment Democrats don't take note then the party will remain underwater, fail to get out voters and the country will fall into the abyss.

9. Karen Agnifilo, I share your mixed emotions about fighting fire with fire. I've spent a lot of the last decade trying to fathom or in any way justify Donald's popularity with far too many Americans. Listening to magas try to explain, excuse, and exalt his behavior leaves me utterly bewildered. 

   But it doesn't end there. My mixed emotions also extend toward Donald himself. While my predominant emotion towards Donald is seething hatred, I also find myself occasionally feeling pity for him. I've never seen the slightest indication that anyone in his life has ever loved him in any emotionally meaningful or genuine way. I've also never seen anyone actually give a damn about his welfare.  I mean, look at the man. He is, at this point, little more than death warmed over, both physically and mentally. Where are the caring family and friends who should have been getting him the help he so obviously and desperately needs and has progressively needed for at least the last decade? They're nowhere. They don't exist. So Donald gets my pity … and my hatred.

   Now about the hatred. I have thought long and hard about why I hate Donald so much. It was easy for a long while to blame my hatred on Donald's systematic destruction of both our democracy and our American society. In fact, it was too easy … and it wasn't entirely true. My hatred wasn't purely hatred. It was hatred bitterly seasoned with disillusionment and disappointment. But I wasn't disillusioned or disappointed by Donald. As long as I've been aware of his existence in the world, I've found him repulsive on every level. 

   No, my hatred of Donald was amplified by the way he changed my perception and impression of my fellow United States citizens. Before Donald, I believed that, in general, We the People were intelligent, civilized, driven, proud, moral, ethical, responsible, and entitled (not a particularly admirable quality, but present nonetheless). Donald has brought out the absolute worst in us, and the worst is far more pervasive and dark than I ever would have imagined. So is weakness of character and of mind. The ease with which he convinces so many Americans of his lies is astounding. It might even be impressive if it weren't destroying our country. What I hate most about Donald is how he has exposed the underbelly of our American society and made so sadly clear to me and the rest of the world that we aren't, and perhaps never have been, who I thought we were.

   And so, it is at least a bit easier for me to release some of the expectation of my Democrat civility and embrace a comparatively civil form of down-and-dirty when called for. We have to win. For all of us, even those who want to crush us, we have to win.

Gavin is mimicking trump and maga Republicans..we all see what's going on God help us bcuz If they win and continue on this road it will be destruction of this great nation and we let it happen 😢i admire and respect your opinions and I think I understand what you are saying but time is running out and either we are a yes or no vote on our democracy. I want everyone to remember how many people didn't vote and how others rationalized their vote now we all are paying for it

20. I'm struggling to make ends meet. Trump has done nothing to lower apt. rents and housing, food prices are at an all time high, and the rich are getting breaks that they don't need to survive. He's focusing on doing hateful, spiteful things against minorities. Trump and his Administration are wrong for America and our democracy. He is not qualified to hold this position because he abuses his power by pardoning criminals. I'm tired of hearing Trump treat the Democratic party as if they never did anything right. It's so negative.

23. I am so disappointed that Uganda is accepting deportees from the United States. Other countries in Africa are trying to get rid of colonization by the West and Europe. Perhaps, part of the answer to Friedman's question regarding the Democrats' inability to win the hearts and minds of American citizens is that both parties, Democrat and Republican ( and Maga) belong to big money to a great extent; both "old money and new". Therefore, the Democrats must tread carefully.
