In a previous video we had a look at a ladies Nissan Maxima that was having an issue that we identified as a high voltage problem. It seemed to happen when we were turning left for some reason. At any rate it is now time to follow the facts and test the charging system to see if the dealer was right. Does the vehicle need a whole new harness or does it simply have a bad alternator? I have known a few mechanics at dealerships they will hire anyone and they still will not pay for a master mechanic. They tend to leave and start their own shop. Where they can make more money. Your videos are awesome!

Dealership mechanics are not paid to do deep diagnosis. They barely make it on flat rate. This is why you NEVER go to dealer after warranty has expired.

Refund her money! Dealership made a mistake, it was not on purpose by far! Part of the cost of doing business.

Nissan dealership service department is just another shop. That's all that is. The only difference is that they work mostly on Nissans. The downside is that the techs are driven by flat rate pressure and also by the fact that they can't get rid of the customer by saying "take it to the dealer" because they ARE the dealer. So what ends up happening is, they try to get rid of the customer by saying it needs an exorbitant repair in the hope the customer will trade the vehicle in for a new car at the sales department. Once the car is traded in, it goes straight to the auction. If only there were a way for dealers to say, "go to another dealer" without looking bad. But quoting exorbitant repairs that don't fix the problem makes them look worse.
I was thinking, at the very minimum, it was caused by the slipping belt. I know i'm singing to the choir, but if mechanics can't guarantee a fix after diagnosis and throw the parts cannon at it without a fix, customer should only pay an initial diagnostic fee. this way, it keeps the money grubbers at bay. just my two cents
Initially I noticed a good deal of electrical noise which had me wondering. It is very possible that the internal voltage regulator was misbehaving. I too find it odd that with zero duty cycle exciting the alternator, the output was not very low 🤔 However I am sure there are operational aspects I am unaware of. The left turn possibly a cause was also strange.
I agree the dealer should return the customer's money and apologize.

If I were the owner of the Nissan Dealership I would show my maintenance staff and fire the manager and let this be a lesson.
07 Nissan murano, been chasing same for months. Posted short on my channel. Found your video and now know steps to solution. Need to stop pigeon holeing myself into searching MODELS and focus more on symptoms. Your video will probably save me from buying the misses a new ride. 😂
