Man that thing is a PILE! Talk about a ROACH… LOL the tree service company I worked for had both a 60' and a 100' bucket truck. The 60' got used the most and the 100' was good for what the 60' wouldn't reach. They were both DT466's which were sorta reliable but pretty damn gutless. Gotta love Navistar crap. Yeah you're definitely a brave man, that thing is ROUGH. What do you have for a top handle saw??? I'm a big fan of the Stihl 201. Best top handle out there IMO, although the Husky 540 isn't bad either.

I'm from Texas, cars don't rust down here other than slight patina rust.. I cant comprehend how a vehicle can rust to the extent that the thing just flakes apart like this in 10 years. (I know that roads are salted during the winter.) However our cars don't really rust, the interiors just get baked by the sun and can sometimes crumble. Basically any old vehicle will have a sun bleached interior unless it was garage kept its whole life.

@mustie1 at the 38:00 mark you are pointing at a sticker that tells you to rotate the tensioner already on the engine to eliminate the a/c pulley (in orange) 😉
That electrically driven hydraulic pump is to get you down and maybe over to the side if the engine cuts out. Otherwise you would be left up there. The bucket has to have a shock hooked up to it so that when you pull the pin on it and go up it slows the movement of it. Then when you get to your position in the air , you push the pin back in to lock it. Otherwise when you move around, the bucket will move on you and scare the poop out of you. Make sure you pull the pin when you are moving the bucket or you will learn way over and fall out. Most importantly though is to get a harness or safety belt so that when you go up in the air, you won't take a swan dive to the ground. That is not a pretty sight. Don't forget to get a hard hat also, because while you are looking at one thing while you are going up other things like branches are getting closer to you and when you turn your head, Blamo you get knocked out and fall out the door opening. Make sure the emergency brake works great, because if it pops out usually the engine cuts out as a safety feature and you have to use the emergency down. I don't mean to be preachy, but I have used that model bucket for the phone company and I speak from experience. They are handy, but just be mindful that you have to use it within their limits. Good Luck with it.

Replace the solenoid it's bad.& replace those bucket controls there Mr. Know it all mustie1 I need those tools though. I remember who you are.& your face to. I know you live live in Bedford,tennessee to.
It does both from A flip of A switches man. It also has fuses inside of it to.
The control panel relay inside box is bad.,or A loose wiring inside of it. Spray the clutch with PB-blaster to soak it'll release. The rest of everything is just work.

If you dont have dry vehicle storage or are not going to start working on it in anything less than a month or two then sell it FFS ! Stop leaving vehicles in fields.

I think Matt at Diesel Creek bought his crane truck for $700 at a Richie brothers auction & that is a much more substantial vehicle.
That thing is a pile lol! It's a moving violation. I would not use that thing to change a light bulb you paid way too much for that thing it's worth scrap value and there is not much steel left to scrap LOL!!

That engine was hurt bad at full throttle trying to pull it onto the trailer sounds like my snowblower on full choke
The E brake will freeze up on these.
I did my ac compressor, there are access holes in the frame (not being a wise guy) I found after watching lots of videos
Thank you Mustie 1 for all you do! I had some trans linkage problems on my E350; I spent 2 hours up under the dash tightening & lubing stuff with little effect until I Removed the dog house cleaned & lubed all linkages & all better!

Inverter takes 12 VDC and makes 120 VAC to run power tools, test equipment, a rotten/missing frame does not deter Dr. Mustie;..that is a irresistible challenge to be met with grinder/welder/ steel and gusto !
poor old bucket truck , it never got aquainted with Mustie's special Bar and Chain oil under carriage elixir….!
Check on a compressor eliminator. bolts in same place but no compressor. then uses same belt as with a/c.
