Old School SMA Action

It’s time to bring back some old school SMA with a classic brake job! This time it is on a Buick Encore with the big 1.4L and it also has a SES light on with the classic P1101. Stick around and hang out in the shop as we get this car back on the road.
-Enjoy!

  1. Recycled copper with cancer already embedded in manufacturing process could be a guess of why some copper wire goes bad without outside interference except for climate ????

  2. I saw you lube the piston and the backing fingers on the caliper mount — why?
For all my working years, I've always used SMP there. I still have a few bottles left over from 2004 when I retired and I still use it every time – no bad effects or problems with it. Your comment? PS: it doesn't freeze even when it gets to -25°F here in Montana.

  3. For a guy has a practically one man show you really start my mornings off with a great blast of humor along with really old time professionalism THANKS ERIC ! p.s. start wearing safety glasses , as a retired "tool and die maker" just friendly advice! @ 74 yrs. old

  4. Hey Eric, you & Sherwood are my 2 favorite channels. I have to admit hanging calipers are one of my pet peeves. It's just too quick & easy to put them up with S hooks or bungee chords. I see it all day long from our techs, most times all the syress is on the hose, & I cringe every time. I hear you about the E brake cable. One of my young guys bought S hooks & started using them & I was thrilled. It's the little things in life!

  5. Thanks for the tip on🎉 the brake lines Eric.
They are bent for most of their life, so it’s always good to hang the calipers down and straighten them.
And at the same time, stretch them slightly to allow for a better flexibility …;-)
    Great vid as usual…

  6. If it's your own car and you're up against this, I'd probably just try to swap out he rusty hole out for a section of evap hose. Probably not worth spending the money on the Kia part if you don't have to for a car of that value

  7. Man when I watch your videos and see all the rust on these vehicles, I am so grateful to live where I live. Seriously. The sheer amount of maintenance required for these vehicles that drive on salty roads is insane.

  8. Got to love a good old fashioned break job! I started watching your channel because I wanted to do the breaks on my Mazda/Ford Ranger. I will always be grateful for what I learned from your videos!

  9. For a free DIY alternative to the spendy-but-worth-it lug bolt flange cleaner-upper, roll up some beercan, and stick it in a steel or alloy tube that fits in a drill chuck (suitable tubes come with Rawlbolts). It probably wont fit over the lug bolt but it'll work right up to the edge of it. Bit of grease will retain the abraded aluminium for long term anti-corrosive effect. Sunflower oil would last even longer but will glue the wheel if you dont do something to stop it

  10. Another great fix by the Great Eric O. I have never had not that first sip of any energy drink….. although I often could use one. What flavor do you recommend Eric O?

  11. I was just telling a guy at work to throw his Herbie Hancock on a form for me. Of course he hadn’t seen the movie so i had to explain the scene of him taking that exam in Tommy Boy
