FRONTLINE and NPR investigate the billions spent on affordable housing, and why so few get the help they need.

This journalism is made possible by viewers like you. Support your local PBS station here: http://www.pbs.org/donate

In a nine-month investigation that takes FRONTLINE and NPR from Dallas to Miami, NPR’s Laura Sullivan and FRONTLINE’s Rick Young find that just one in four households eligible for Section 8 assistance are getting it, and the nation’s signature low-income housing construction program is costing more and producing less. The team investigates the inseparability of race and housing programs in America, tracing a legacy of segregation and discrimination that began more than 80 years ago.

  1. Poverty is everywhere, wherever place you're across the world there's a poverty stricken even though the poverty of Africa is unbearable They strive for only food and water and health care.

  2. As usual, entitled white people not wanting to help the poor or indigenous people. Best we hope for is that a event comes to theor lives to shift them into humanity kindness and realities that are most important in life, like Community

  3. Iti2025 and there's no oversight whatsoever. There is nobody watching the way the government funding is spent. There are people who are openly stealing the money and they don't even make a secret of it.

  4. Why do we put pressure of companies to pay their workers more but no pressure is put on greedy developers to cap how often they can raise rent. Literally on the basis of greed. Most apartments are in bad shape and are depreciating but our system tells us otherwise

  5. Oh the Government IS spending Billions…but not to fix this issue. There's no accountability so how do you expect to address corruption

  6. Maybe if the government provides tube ties after second government assisted delivery everything would balance itself out. 🤷🏻‍♀️
