  1. I just got my 504 utility “running”and cannot for the life of me figure out why it runs past full throttle. I have watched this video series 100x. It came with a Chinese Zenith 267×9 carb.

  2. So I “accidentally “ moved the governor housing on my super A while replacing the governor spring. Tractor runs a magneto. How do I time the gear when I put it back in?

  3. I've been turning wrenches for like fifty years… and your videos are always relaxing to watch.
On your carb cleaner, I work on circuit boards, and the very best carb cleaner (for cleaning the boards) I've found is the B-12 Chemtool.
That's the only one that doesn't leave a residue after it flashes off. That might be a bonus to use, especially if you're relying on a secure bond with the Loctite.
    Thanks for the videos!

  4. I am happy that I came across your channel. I traded off my old 504 utility diesel. It was rough when I bought it and no better when it left. I now have the 504 Farmall row crop. It is in great shape and I want to keep it that way.
    Thanks for your great guidance.

  5. They just don’t make things like they did back in the day. Always seems like the manufacturer wants to complicate matters. Seems like the real challenge should be try and make the machines less complicated.

  6. CNH and Deere (and probably everyone big) seems to want to impose requirements on dealers that just cause the small ones to leave. If they don't, then they'll send letters later informing dealers that their dealership is being revoked.

It's in CNH's interest to push the stock out to small dealers and tie up dealers' capital for parts supply so that it's not on their own books.

Not by any means unique to ag equipment – goes all the way to guitars. Local dealer was a multi decade seller of a huge guitar brand and I remember them grumbling about how much crap the brand parent made them take to get a little bit of the equipment people actually want. The brand had trouble and started flinging cost of service for fixing new instruments with issues back on the dealers, and local dealer here dropped them.

It's a bummer as there's less in the store now, but the store makes more money on lessons and renting audio equipment than they do guitars.

  7. Trying to mail a package from Amazon to the address given but won't ship to a PO box. Zip is for Ithaca but address is shown as Lansing. Perhaps another time.

  8. Pete!!
I have a few questions…….(if you or any of your viewers would know…..)…from a non-tractor owner.
    a) When & where was the tractor you are working on originally built?
    b) I'm assuming they were built mostly by hand……on some sort of assembly line?
    c) Any idea what it cost new off the showroom floor?
    d) What would new back tires cost for that tractor?
Thank you and keep up the good work!
    Rich from PA.

  9. I know you take pictures of things before dissemble remember you mentioned it before, do you also make some hand sketches to go along with them? As detailed as you are, be neat to see the sketches. Another great video.

  10. I'm always glad to see more mechanical videos, but I'm even more happy to see that the comments aren't full of complaints from armchair mechanics. Can't wait to see the 504 up and running.

  11. This was absolutely GREAT. Thank you so much for video-documenting this. This sort of information is absolute gold. Thank you.

    Cheers,
    Jim

  12. Thank you for this video. We are probably going to have to rebuild the governor on our Super C next spring and now we'll use your video as our guide. Excellent job as always Pete.

She always made Birthday cakes for my birthday also 2 brother's for years Lol!

  15. Some good advice with the method of rebuilding the governor on drilling out the housing for the bushing. Also liked how you kept the hydraulic valve shaft to follow up with the other side. I have done some of this, but I have to do it in the open, so I had my tractor done by the shop. Wow did that cost me! Great video, I'll be looking out for the follow up video. Thanks for sharing and I'll see you later, have a wonderful week, stay safe out there.
