It's hard to believe that someone designed a hydraulic brake system where you had to take up the carpet inside the car to top up the master cylinder!
Lesson learned. Make sure you carry enough tools to disassemble the interior if you need to add brake fluid on your trip!

The 'button' in the carpet, when you are trying to access the master cylinder, is a lift-dot fastener.
have you thought about using a rifle cleaning kit when cleaning fuse contacts?

Did you bench bleed the master first might have air trap in master cyl ?
My folks used to use toilet bowl cleaner on canvas which would probably work on that top

Take a soft hammer to the float bowl. They get sticky.
Use pet stain remover for the canvas.
