Just a point of order about HIPAA, there's no HIPAA violation here since that only applies to your healthcare provider leaking your PHI to others. But I agree otherwise with getting cold calls asking you to share your PHI willingly. No one should be asked to do that, or forced to do that, especially with the kind of forced consent that the government pushed with covid…
Okay… Totally irrelevant but so many people misunderstand it, so ive got to say something…. With your spam caller… You said something to the effect of "violating HIPAA by asking you to disclose private medical information" first off, they're not disclosing anything by asking… I can ASK for you to give us all your date of birth and social security number in the next video… Its not a violation to ASK because you can say "um, no, im not going to give you that" further… Its YOUR medical info… Should you choose to give the infirmation they ask, that too is not a HIPAA violation because its YOUR info and YOU can disclose YOUR info to anyone you like. Where it would potentially become a violation is if they asked for your wife unit's info and you disclosed it since its not yours to disclose.
